Hi all,
I've just started the press release page for the Britain Loves Wikipedia event at: http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Press_releases/Britain_Loves_Wikipedia
This includes a whole host of cool information (at least in my opinion) about the event - including a few details about the events that will be happening next month, and the prizes that will be up for grabs.
The release includes text written by myself and Steve Virgin. Any help improving the release would be gratefully received. It will hopefully go out on Sunday the 24th January.
The museums and events listed are confirmed: there are a number of others that I'm waiting for confirmation on before adding to the list. However, please don't spread the word too much about this press release yet, as it needs to be checked by the museums involved before it goes live fully.
If anyone is willing and able to help with Britain Loves Wikipedia, please let me know. Specifically: - We have a website in development - a wiki with some custom coding for entering the competition - which needs text improving and information adding, however it's currently password protected due to some confidential information. I should be able to give access to this to a few people, but the information cannot be distributed yet. - A leaflet is also currently under development, but could do with work on the design and the text. If anyone's interested in helping, I can share the current design with them. - We are also in need of more sponsors for prizes - we have a limited number at the moment, but more is always better. - From Sunday onwards we will also need help spreading the word about the events.
If you can help with any of this, please get in touch with me as soon as possible.
Thanks, Mike
Not sure if this came through yesterday, so resending...
