We're currently over 991,000,000 edits to Wikimedia projects, so we should be reaching the billion edit milestone soon. I've started a draft WMUK press release/blog post about this at: http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Press_releases/ 1_billion_edits_on_Wikimedia_projects Does anyone want to help get this ready?
