Hi all,
Just a reminder to anyone with photographs of (Grade I / Grade II* / Category A / Grade A / Grade B+) listed buildings hanging around on your hard drives, now is the time to upload them.
The easiest way to do this is to find each building's listing on Wikipedia (e.g. [1]), and follow the upload link there.
Even if you took the photographs ages ago, they will still qualify for Wiki Loves Monuments, the world's largest photography competition -- assuming you upload them before midnight.
Why participate in Wiki Loves Monuments rather than upload them, say, next week? * Your photographs can win prizes * You'll be helping make this year's WLM the largest ever (14,000 more uploads needed!) [2] * You'll help the UK overtake India into 8th place in the country rankings ) 600 uploads needed!) [3]
For more general information on WLM, see http://wikilovesmonuments.org/ .
All the best, Harry

well done everyone! I see the UK ended up the 5th-biggest country in terms of the number of contributors, and 8th in terms of total photos uploaded. Not bad for a first attempt!
Many thanks to everyone who took photos, and even more thanks to everyone who helped organise it!
Regards,
Chris

I only got out taking photos one afternoon, and one late-night.
Many thanks to everyone who took photos, and even more thanks to everyone who helped organise it!
It was fun to try and get some half-decent photos. But, you'll get more Edinburghers if you do Wiki Loves (listed) pubs[1].

I have lots of photos, both from this September and previously, but I ran out of time to sort through them. I'll do my best to get them ready for next year's competition though :)

Well it's worth mentioning (for those who don't know) that WLM's "easy upload" process continues to work all year round -- the only difference is that your photographs won't count towards the competition proper.
So if find yourself with a stack of photographs you didn't get round to uploading, you don't have to wait to next year to upload them. Indeed, Wikipedia (and other reusers) start benefiting immediately, so an early upload is actively the moral thing to do. (Though the cynic in me suggests holding back any potential award winners...)
Best, Harry

Add CAMRA's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors next year? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Inventory_of_Historic_Pub_Interiors

That would be an interesting one! Definitely worth thinking about for next time (seriously).

Making contacts in LAGRAD could lead to some great sets of photos of the regulars enjoying their favourite pubs and ales. They might even help with different free venues for a few wikimeets. :-)
