Ok, just the one comment:
The letter written by cfp's friendly barrister is fantastic, even better than I'd hoped for! Be careful editing it, it would be easy to make it worse. This may already be your plan (it wasn't clear from the logs, from what I could tell), but make sure you run the final draft by the barrister again before sending it off, you don't want to ruin his legal masterpiece!
