Hi all,
I'm working on an ongoing basis to develop our introduction/induction process for new members.
Some of you may have been in the mini-session I led at the AGM asking for feedback/ideas on this very topic. One valuable insight that came out of that was that we have two broad groups we want to attract to volunteering opportunities - including membership - in the Chapter; those who have edited before and those who have not.
One idea I'm exploring is reformulating the currently separate sections on the UK Wiki on 'Volunteering' and 'Join us' into a 'Volunteer portal' which brings together these resources underneath an introductory landing page which directs people to further information based on whether they have editing experience. Sadly however my lack of experience working with complex templates, and lack of time to get up to speed to deliver this myself is proving an obstacle.
What I would love is if some wonderful person/persons could offer a few hours of their time in the next fortnight to work with me on internal wiki to develop a portal template we can then move onto the UK wiki when the content to compliment it is ready - again, I'm drafting the content for new members on the UK wiki, and welcome input from anyone who has time or inclination.
Drop me a line if you think you can help (or indeed, reply here!) I understand that there are probably many of you who *could* do this but might struggle to find the time in the next few weeks :)
