Our 12 hour editathon in partnership with the BBC, held at broadcasting house with the participation of BBC staff in other regional offices, broke records for the number of new biographies of women created in a single day. We are very grateful to the BBC of helping us reach a huge global audience of millions of people to encourage them to edit Wikipedia, especially women who are currently underrepresented. Look at some of the coverage from the roundup of media mentions and WMUK blogs below.

Coming soon…
1Lib1Ref campaign: 15 January - 3 February
Organised by the Wikipedia Library, this campaign is aimed primarily at librarians. Dr Martin Poulter will be leading two workshops at the Bodleian Library in Oxford, and there should be other events at libraries and universities in other parts of the UK. You can view the project page https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/1Lib1Ref for 1Lib1Ref and keep an eye on our events page https://wikimedia.org.uk/wiki/Events to find out how you can participate.
Wikipedia Day! 15 January
We are hoping to organise a celebration in London for the Wikimedia community. Check our events page and social media accounts for updates.
Other projects
We are planning events as part of our Kurdish Wikipedia Project, our Middle Eastern Women project at Queen Mary, as well as a number of events for students at Edinburgh University. If you would like to organise Wikipedia training events with us, get in touch and tell us your ideas.
All the best,
John Lubbock, Communications Coordinator
