I tend to agree with Mike, but not entirely. I'd say you should ask scholarship recipients if they object to their name being published. If they do (for any reason or no reason whatsoever), obviously you shouldn't publish their name; if they don't, you should publish it. Transparency is one of WMUK's goals (on paper), and allowing interested parties to evaluate how the charity spends its money, and feed back on especially good or poor decisions, is a big part of that. Scholarships recipients are encouraged to openly participate prior, during, and after their attendance to a conference, but they may well have legitimate reasons why they may not want their receiving of scholarship or attendance to be known publicly in advance or at all. We have not and do not seek permissions from a travel scholarship applicant to publish their names, however they are free to do so if they wish. This is the same as for the Wikimedia Foundation when they are awarding scholarships to Wikimania.

Erm, no, it is standard (good) practice!

It is not standard practice for a list of attendees to Wikimedia
conferences to be published. It is up to the individuals in question whether they want it be known publicly that they are attending or have attended a particular Wikimedia conference. That any particular individual attendance are funded by Wikimedia UK or for that matter the Wikimedia Foundation rather than privately does not affect that.
Like other Wikimedia conferences, there is an unofficial list on the conference pages where participates are able to publicly indicate
their planned attendance. In addition, all scholarship recipients agrees to produce a public report afterwards summarising the key things they have taken from the event.

There were two valid applications, which we are both funding.
Where is the list going to be published?
