If we do get a UK registered charity going then I suggest the board look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Payroll_giving. I've given the article a partial rewrite, but from my experience, (including getting a 25% participation rate at the last placed I worked at) this is a very useful scheme to tap into.
Certainly worth looking into, although it looks like it may take a lot of effort to get going so it may be a long term plan. I think we'll start with cheques!
Direct debits. Marvellous things. ORG (openrightsgroup.org) started with getting pledges of £5/month to get it started. They have, like, money and stuff now. Not buckets, but certainly enough to work with.
I'm sure the treasurer will investigate every possible way of funnelling money into the organisation!
