I've also fleshed out the page with a bit of a framework and some of the tasks mentioned already, as well as a list of people willing to help, though only included myself as didn't want to presume.
The SubpageList extension also does this; one whacks a <subpagelist /> tag on a page, and there appears a nice little list of all subpages of the current page.
Not so helpful for Wikimedia, of course, where it's not installed. :(
