Hello!
We’d like to invite our members and wider UK community to the Wikimedia UK
2024 Community Celebration
<https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/online-wikimedia-uk-2024-community-celebrati…>,
taking place on Saturday 23rd November, 11-1pm.
This online get-together will be a celebration of what our community has
achieved in the last year, a recognition of that work through the
Wikimedian of the Year awards, and to showcase some of the incredible work
that has been taking place across the UK.
Over the last month or so, we’ve been reaching out to community members in
a call for lightning talks, and we’re really excited by what we’ve now got
lined up. It’s often the case that there’s a huge amount of work done by
Wikimedians that others just don’t see, so we’re really happy to be able to
highlight some of this activity.
After the lightning talks, we’ll be presenting the annual Wikimedian of the
Year awards - there’s more information about those here
<https://wikimedia.org.uk/2024/10/wikimedian-of-the-year-awards-2024-nominat…>,
and *nominations are open until the 1st November.*
This event is open to both members and non-members of Wikimedia UK, who'd
like to find out more about Wikimedia work in the UK, and who'd like to get
more involved!

The article on the excellent TV series "A House Through Time":
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_House_Through_Time
lacks photos of the featured homes in Newcastle-upon-Tyne (5
Ravensworth Terrace) and Bristol (10 Guinea Street).
Is anyone in a position to take pics, please?
[The Berlin location is also missing a pic, but I have that in hand]

Dear all
Wikimedia UK has recently applied for a three year grant from the Wikimedia
Foundation to support our activities from 2025 - 2028. You can read our
proposal here
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Programs/Wikimedia_Community_Fund/Ge…>.
The request to WMF represents around 45% of our overall annual budget, with
about 55% to be fundraised from individuals, trusts and foundations and
other sources.
We have also now finalised our strategic framework for 2025 - 2030. This
will be on Wiki imminently but in the meantime, I've attached a pdf of the
one page summary and the full document. Many thanks to those of you who
helped with the creation of the new strategy, which places a stronger
emphasis than previously on community development and health.
With best wishes
