The 101st London Wikimeet. The usual suspects, and in the time I was
there, nobody of the female gender. I asked once participant if
identified as a male. After some discussion, we agreed that gender was
no longer binary.
Also, no caek....
Just wondered if these two are related?
:-)

I'd like to add my word of thanks from Wikimedia UK, as well. Both
Jan-Bart and Stu as long-standing and experienced trustees have been
notably welcoming, friendly and open, and both have been extremely
helpful in maintaining good WMF board / chapter board relations. I know
I can speak for others at Wikimedia UK as well, who have had excellent
relations with them over the years.
It has been a pleasure to work with you both, and I and my colleagues
wish you all the best for the future.
Best regards
Michael

Dear all
Wikimedia UK would like to invite volunteers, editors and partners to a
drinks party from 7.30pm on *Saturday 16th January* at Newspeak House,
Bethnal Green, to mark the 15th birthday of Wikipedia. This will be a
small, informal gathering to thank those involved in WMUK and the Wikimedia
projects, and to hear some short speeches from key people involved with the
charity and the movement.
I'm sorry for the short notice, however we have only just been able to
confirm the venue. We are setting up an eventbrite page for registrations,
however for now please save the date.
With many thanks to Ed Sapeira for kindly hosting us! We look forward to
seeing you there.

The 100th London Wikimeet took place at Penderel's Oak, and was a very
pleasant event. Lucy Compton-Reid was there, and I saw at least one
Trustee (and some staff).
The first was on 5th June 2004.

The next will be meeting number 101 with caek, since Wikipedia is 15
Years Young!

I think we managed to confuse the staff with the continuous food orders.
Somebody had "Old Growler" (from Nethergate)... each to their own!

Hi all,
This might be of interest to people in London, or active with graphics software:
http://libregraphicsmeeting.org/2016/call-for-participation/ <http://libregraphicsmeeting.org/2016/call-for-participation/>
"The eleventh annual international Libre Graphics Meeting 2016 will take place Friday 15th until Monday 18th April 2016 in London, UK. This yearly event is an occasion for teams and individual contributors/artists involved in Libre Graphics to work together, to share experiences and to hear about new ideas. By Libre Graphics we mean Free, Libre and Open Source tools for design, illustration, photography, typography, art, graphics, page layout, publishing, 3D modelling, digital making and manufacture, cartography, animation, video, interactive media, generative graphics and visual live-coding. The Libre Graphics Meeting is not just about software, but extends to standards, file formats and actual use of these in creative work. LGM has become the place in which they can discuss their projects, coordinate their efforts and, crucially, to meet in person. Participants in the LGM include developers, designers, academics and activists from around the world, who are all passionate about Free/Libre graphics software and technology."
The submission deadline for presentations is coming up soon, on the 10th January.

Hi all, and a very happy new year.
I'm trying to get hold of a book to help with a Wikipedia article. The book is Pevsner's Buildings of England, London volume 2: South (ISBN 9780300096514, 1983). Although there are other parts that might be useful, I'm only really interested in page 471. Annoyingly, the page is omitted from the Google Books preview, though the page either side are included. I've also checked my local library and the nearest copy is a long journey away an not available for inter-library loan.
Does anyone on this list own a copy or have a copy in a local library? A photograph or photocopy of p471 would suffice!
