Hi Katie,
I asked this a while ago and your answer was essentially "we're working on it", but I don't think I'm the only one wondering, so I'll ask on this list.
What do UK (in particular non-London) residents who want financial support to attend do? Is there going to be a separate process or do we need to apply for a scholarship through the WMF (which would be a bit silly imho)?
I'm sure it would be useful to know before the scholarships deadline.
Thanks,
Harry Mitchell

Hi -
WMUK is supporting a Wikipedia training event at Goldsmiths, University of
London, on Saturday 8 March - International Women's Day. The event will
mainly focus on editing pages related to women's arts practice, making use
of resources available at Goldsmiths' Women's Art Library. There's a basic
wiki page about the event here:
So far 18 people have registered for this event, and we are expecting as
many as 20 to register by the end of the week. It's therefore likely that
we'll need three trainers for this event. If you're interested and
available please sign-up in this wiki page:

...but I did meet 10CC's Graham Gouldman today, and recorded his voice
for Wikipedia, along with those of Wishbone Ash founder Martin Turner
and Pink Floyd album-sleeve designer "po" Powell
All three recordings are now on the respective articles.

This may be of interest if you are in the Cambridge area. This Thursday (27
February) Magnus Manske will be giving a talk in Cambridge at 7 pm, to a
joint meeting of the university Computing and Technology and Wikipedia
Societies. The topic will be recent Wikidata innovations. Details are on
the calendar at
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Cambridge_University_Wikipedia_Soci…
(I'd have thought this was worth a site notice ...)

The developments in Wikidata are looking fascinating. It would be great if someone who knows a bit about them could run a workshop for those if us who would like to find out more.
Anyone like to volunteer?
Michael
