I've put a geonotice up, but it only reaches the UK - my technical skills do not extend to finding coordinates for European IP addresses and translating that into something that won't get me yelled at for breaking the geonotice! ;) If anybody knows how to do it but lacks admin tools to edit the MediaWiki page, ping me.
Since OTRS is cross-Wikimedia, we should probably publicise this on Meta, but I don't know where specifically. I'll also send it to the OTRS mailing list.
Harry

Yes - those dates are now confirmed, and we've booked meetings rooms at the WMUK office. If someone could put up a geonotice advertising the workshop, that would be fantastic. It might be worth covering a larger-than-normal geographical area for
this, given the rarity of these workshops, potential interest from the continent, and ease of travel from the continent (e.g. it's cheaper and easier to travel to London from Paris than Glasgow...)?

Cool - will this be going above and beyond the regular London wikimeet?
Thanks,
Mike
I just loaded a Wikipedia article and rather than a fundraising
banner, I saw a banner asking me to participate in a research project
(a fairly standard game theory type experiment involving how to share
money between yourself and other participants). It was made clear that
the banner was approved by the WMF and the Wikimedia Research
Committee. I'm wondering what involvement Wikimedia UK had in deciding
to put this banner up. I notice I was given an option to donate my
"earnings" to the WMF (or the International Red Cross), but not WMUK
(I chose to keep mine for myself and will pass them on the WMUK once
they arrive in my paypal account).
Hi,
I'm delighted to pass on this message of thanks from one of our
Australian close friends. Having so many of our 'Ambassadors' at
GLAMsterdam was a great demonstration of how committed the chapter is
to our GLAM programme and a great opportunity to create and maintain
good will relationships with many other chapters.
We will be building up to the global GLAMwiki conference on 14-15
September 2012 in London, if you want to be more involved or have
ideas for the GLAM programme drop me a note.

Dear Wikimedia UK,
I wanted to thank your organisation on a personal level and on behalf of
Wikimedia Australia for the kindness extended to me GLAM Camp Amsterdam.
All the members I met from Wikimedia UK were supportive, kind and willing
to listen to me. Many showed general interests in the projects I am
involved with as an Australian GLAM representative. In turn, the members
from WM UK that I talked to were happy to answer questions about the
programs you run and how your chapter works. Several members specifically
who were extremely helpful included PanyD, Mike Peel, HJ Mitchell, Brian
McNeill, Johnbod and Marek69. I learned a lot from them and other members
from your chapter, and this will help my chapter and GLAM efforts in
Australia.
Sincerely,
Laura Hale

Hi all,
We've previously had discussions on this list about the UK participating in Wiki Loves Monuments. There were a number of issues raised, and it would be good to sit down and brainstorm the solutions to those issues, and seeing whether we've got a critical mass of people to participate in WLM in September 2012. So I'm starting to organise a brainstorming meeting in Manchester early next year to do just that!
If you're interested in brainstorming and helping make WLM:UK 2012 happen, then please sign up at:

Thanks,
Mike
Sunday 11th? Bit of of clash with the London Wikimeet....

*Lets talk Commons*
*_Sunday_, 11th Dec 2011 - 4pm - 6pm *
*At public works - **1-5 Vyner street, London E2 9DG

After a talk by James Quilligan at an event held by S/chool of Commoning
/the realisation of how far the thinking about commons extends, from
cultural commons to intellectual commons, digital commons, common
governance and the common sector as an additional sector to the existing
private and public sector lead to the inspiration for this event.
In this Friday (Sunday) session we are delighted to invite:
The *School of Commoning*
<http://www.commonslearningalliance.org/content/school-commoning> will
introduce their activities towards a new kind of educational space,
to bring the commons into being. It is a social enterprise that provides
education for commons culture and social renewal.
*Michel Bauwens <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michel_Bauwens>,* research
fellow at university of Amsterdam and external expert at Pontifical
academy of social sciences to talk about co-production and co-governance.
*Celine Condorelli <http://www.celinecondorelli.eu/> *will explore forms
of commons and commonality, making a small, specific cut into the large
question of how to live autonomously and together by focusing on old and
new enclosures, forms of communing and of being in common.
*public works <http://www.publicworksgroup.net> *will present a
selection of projects which attempted to implement co-production and
spatial/urban tools that tried to create commonality.
If there’s interest, there will be also a possibility to test the
commons concept in practice, by envisioning the formation of a knowledge
commons on Urban Spaces for the People, by the People. This could become
a collaborative project to follow on from this introductory session.

All,
This may seem like a bit of an odd question, but I've recently been in touch
with a gentleman who owns a coach/bus firm. His firm own rather a lot of
very high quality coaches and tour busses, the sort used by VIPs and rock
bands. Some of them are double-decker bendy-busses, and they're all rather
special. He's more than happy to release high-quality photographs of his
busses and coaches, and his workshop, but needs someone to walk him through
the licensing arrangements. Is there anyone here with the time and
inclination to help?
I know this isn't quite a 'cultural partner' or 'UK' issue, but it falls
into both categories a little bit, and I'm loathe to let this opportunity
disappear!
All the best,
Richard Symonds

Hi all,
It's now December - which means it's time to put together the November WMUK report! The current draft's at:

Please add to it. :-) It will go out next weekend (9th December).
Thanks,
Mike
Any thoughts on running the London Wikimeet on January the 15th rather
than January the 8th.
The first Sunday in January is New Year's Day.
But more importantly, the third Sunday in January is Wikipedia Day!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Day
There are plans afoot to have something in the U.S., so if we were to
have the London Wikimeet on the 15th, we could make Wikipedia Day
international. And without any extra effort: just turning up in the
pub and eating, drinking and being merry.
And we'll see how long everyone's new year's resolutions (new page
patrolling!) have gotten on.
