At the bottom of each email on this list, it still gives the old URL to the
meta page, instead of to http://uk.wikimedia.org. Can this be fixed?
Thanks,

Is Wikipedia UK pitching for the HBOS social entrepreneur awards?
I was kind of wondering about putting the Schools Wikipedia in as a pitch
Andrew aka BozMo
Tobacco wouldn't be possible due to uk advertising laws anyway. We would need to seek advice from the foundation on things which could be considered touchy in terms of pr.

Where would you guys take money from?
I ask as a lot of the 'sin stocks' have cash and I could approach but it
might not be the kind of thing that fits with the 'teams'
Eg: GM company and tobacco company (that kind of thing)

We are allowed to contract multinational companies. There is a
possibility of sponsorship from american company anyway. I don't think
that its wrong cause at the end of the day, we can pass on sponsors in
the event we don't win. Iv been doing exactly what your suggesting.

We have to go with worst case scenario.
We have a month and a half left, we need to keep moving, but there's
no need to rush. I guess out first step is to put together a list of
costs, then we can work out minimum and desired values for each. So,
here goes:
* Venue hire
* Catering
* Parties venue hire/catering
* Security (possibly comes with venue - I'm not really sure what we
need in this regard, but I guess some kind of security would be good)
* Travel/accommodation sponsorship
* VIP expenses
Have I missed anything? (I expect I have.)
And a list of income sources:
* Sponsors
* Ticket sales
I think that's it.
I'm not sure we can just assume there won't be any international
sponsorship, since we need to know whether we should be contacting
multinationals or not. If the WMF aren't going to do that (which they
really should), then we should be contacting the UK branches of all
the multinationals listed at

I know we're allowed, but it's a waste of everyone's time (including
that of the people we contact - we should try and avoid wasting the
time of potential sponsors!) if the WMF are going to do it (and it's
far better if they do since they can arrange ongoing deals, we can
only arrange it for one year).

Common sense suggests a combination of the two is required. You can't
come up with a realistic budget without knowing what level of
sponsorship is realistic and you can't get sponsorship without a
budget, so you need to work on both together.
Iv been pestering cary bass for the last 3 months as well as having emailed the wikimania mailing list and either couldn't give me any more info or had no response respectively. I think it is in our best interests to assume for the time being that they are the same as last years. There is a lot that is going to be needed to be done no matter what.

Chasing up sounds like a good idea - we should email someone at the
WMF about budgetary issues.

With the bid page coming along nicely, I want to get work started on the budget. This is something that needs to be broken down between several people. Because of this I wish to form an informal body to work on this. Little or no experience is needed and all requirements will be provided and for the time being it can be mostly done through the internet. Can those interested please reply here or email me within the next few days?
