I presume single-sign-on not quite working for some people.

As requested, the Election Committee have passed the full result of
the board election on to me, and I've listed it below. The committee
calculated a second support percentage discounting "no vote"s, but the
support percentage I quote is the one which appears to have been used
in determining the result of the election.
Best Wishes

Another week, another exciting meeting! :D
Just a reminder that the board of the newly proposed chapter meeting
starts in just under 2 hours time. Agenda is on

London Wiki Wednesday on Thursday 27th November 2008.
Yes, a Thursday. Looks like an interesting event in the series.
Details here:
http://www.socialtext.net/wikiwed/index.cgi?london_wikiwed_27_november_2008
"The plan is to meet regularly, building up to a major conference
sometime in 2009. For the first meeting we have a great sponsor NESTA
(the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts), at
their offices (details below). It will be on Thursday 27 November. As
well as being on a non-Wednesday, we will be starting a little
earlier at 16:00 until 20:00. This meeting is going to be something
special. Please sign up on the wiki as usual, and look out for full
details and the agenda."

We have about 60 characters (3 lines of 23 characters) physical space
on the memory stick production of the schools wikipedia on which to
place some message. We are struggling with ideas.
The following are possible messages to include:
20 million words 34000 pictures, equivalent to a 20 volume encyclopaedia
checked content from the English Wikipedia
making Wikipedia content accessible offline
making Wikipedia content accessible to child safe users
Wikipedia arranged by National Curriculum topic
What do people think the most critical messages are?
The (4G) memory sticks are a bit more expensive than DVDs (they cost
around £6 loaded and printed) but we think they will work better than
DVDs. We won't charge for either but might just use DVDs for all the
copies people request by post.
Thoughts welcome
Andrew
Although we probably feel we've had enough debates about rules(!), could I suggest we put Membership Rules on the agenda for the next meeting?
I suggest we use the same general framework for making these decisions as before, i.e:
* Board Meeting, 21st: Agree scope and start debate
* Meta, Mailing list, 22nd-~28th: Open debate with community on content
* Board Meeting, 28th: Approve Rules
This timetable would mean the rules are approved in time to accept guarantor members once the incorporation has been completed.
I suggest the scope includes:
* Both "Supporters" and "guarantor members"
* Membership fee (if any)
* Age limit (if any)
* Provisions to guarantee U18s £1 (if any)
* Disclosures required (Real name? Usernames? Address?)
* Broad guidance on circumstances where the Board might refuse membership
Is this a sensible approach?

> Subject: Wikimedia UK v2 (proposed) - Constitution
>
> Dear Chapters Committee,
>
> I am writing on behalf of the UK Wikimedian community which is currently working
> to establish a new chapter for the United Kingdom.
>
> Over the past two months, we have been working through the steps to establish
> this new chapter. Starting in late August, we publicised our initiative
> throughout the UK wikimedian community and invited other wikimedians to get
> involved. We held an election of an interim Board in September, and their first
> task was to draw up a constitution.
>
> After extensive consultation with the community and discussion among the Board
> members, we approved our draft constitution on Monday and would like to submit
> it to you now for your comments and approval in accordance with the "Step by
> step chapter creation guide".
>
> We have decided that the most appropriate legal structure for our chapter would
> be a "Company Limited by Guarantee". We have based our constitution (termed the
> "Memorandum of Association" and the "Articles of Association") on the Model
> documents issued by the UK Charity Commission. The main revisions we have made
> to these is to shift the general balance of powers between the Directors and the
> members towards the members and to allow for electronic communications and
> meetings.
>
> Our draft constitution can be found here:

> and

>
>
> The text of the constitution is shown in Bold text with additional explanatory
> notes in Italic. Note that the Italic notes do not form part of the
> constitution. Revisions to the Model documents are highlighted by underlining
> additional text and striking through the deleted text.
>
> Please let us know if you have any queries regarding these and otherwise we look
> forward to hearing from you once you have had a chance to consider these.
