Art+Feminism editathons on March 4th and 5th

Hi Bay Area people! There are two Art+Feminism editathons ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/ArtAndFeminism) happening in San Francisco in the near-ish future, and I'd like to encourage you to sign up for them, especially if you can help mentor new editors. Our Year of Science kickoff is today!

Hello everyone! There's already been a lot of inspiring reactions to the the Year of Science, so I'm delighted to say that the Wiki Education Foundation (Wiki Ed) is officially launching our Year of Science work in the USA and Canada today. (I believe that remote viewers may have included people who are currently in Russia and Japan!) Agenda for January 16: Wikipedia 15 conference food and agendas

Hi all, *Seattle folks*: we're meeting at the University of Washington <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Washington> Seattle campus, Communications Building, in room 126. Casual conversation and potluck starting at 12:15 (bring whatever you wish; we've had good luck with potlucks so far! Please note allergens on food that you bring; some of us are vegetarian and/or are allergic to certain ingredients). I will bring cake, plastic silverware, plates, cups and napkins. We'll start the joint lightning talks at 1 PM sharp. *San Francisco folks*: you're meeting at the Wikimedia Foundation's collaboration space. Per the Wikipedia meetup page <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/San_Francisco/Wikipedia_Day_…>, "Doors open at noon. Wikimedia's 15th birthday party next Saturday!

Hi all, San Francisco has filled the slots, tentatively, for the 25 minute talks on January 16 However, we still need lightning talks! Update: Wikipedia 15 events on January 15th and 16th

Hi all, Update on Wikipedia 15 events: * WMF is planning an event on Friday, January 15. * The community event will very likely be on Saturday, January 16. The current thinking goes something like this: 12:15 - 1 PM: optional potluck lunch and introductions 1 PM - 2 PM: lightning talks, possibly synced with Wikimedia New York City and Wikimedia UK. 2 PM - 4 PM: longer talks 4 PM - 4:30 PM: discussion of planning of future west coast activities 4:30 - 5 PM: video off; local discussions and socializing. The situation is still fluid, but please do mark your calendars for the afternoon of Saturday, January 16. Those of us in Seattle will meet at the University of Washington in Communications 126. I believe that those in SF will meet in the Wikimedia Foundation offices. Portland and Vancouver are still TBD. Regards, Pine
