Hi Everyone,
The Chale Wote Street Art Festival is back again this year on the 23rd and
24th of August.
This year's edition seeks to explore the history of Accra, the city,
through its origins in James Town and an examination of this place in
relation to death and rebirth. The theme for this year's festival is
'Death: An Eternal Dream Into Limitless Rebirth. There will be art
exhibitions that remodel our perceptions and interactions with design in
public spaces, as well as other attractions.
If you are interested in supporting the artists and manning work stations
as a volunteer during the festival, kindly contact volunteer(a)ghanathink.org
PS: Sandister started an article on Wikipedia [1] last year we can work on
an edit-a-thon sometime or other collaborations with future editions plus
getting more free images (CC-BY-SA) on Wikimedia Commons for worldwide
usage. We can start a different trend on this. Also a publication by The
Guardian about Chale Wote [2]

Hi Rexford,
I'm sorry for the late reply, I've been away and for some reason this mail
didn't go out from my usual account.
I'd be very grateful for any contacts interested in working on the project,
and we are also looking for community organizers for specific languages.
Also, we are looking into various Ghanan languages, if you know of anyone
who may be willing to translate the Ebola article for example. As for
regional banner, do you mean on specific Wikipedias? And who do I in this
case turn to?
Best,
Carl Fredrik Sjöland

Hi Carl,
Thanks for getting in touch and I'm glad the medical translation is in
progress.
The need to get those medical articles into Afrikaans and Xhosa is very
important.
I can help in trying to reach out to as many persons as possible who speak
these languages.
I, for myself, I am a Ghanaian by birth and can't speak nor understand nor
write any of the South African languages except for English.
However, I think I can be of assistance by putting up a call for persons to
who can speak that language to help in the translation.
One area I would suggest you exhaust is also putting a regional banner on
Wikipedia inviting persons who speak that language to volunteer.
I'll start right away in trying to reach out to many people as possible,
and I hope I get persons who will be interested and be of assistance.
Thanks

Subject: [Wikimania-l] Call for Volunteers: Wikimania Jury to review bids
for 2016
To: "Wikimania general list (open subscription)" <
wikimania-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>, Wikimedia Mailing List <
wikimedia-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Dear all,
soon we will starting the bidding process for Wikimania 2016.
Soon the Wikimania Committee will be kicking off the selection process
for deciding who should host Wikimania 2016.
* https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2016
Request for Proposals (RfP) is being published soon and we want to
invite volunteers to serve on the selection jury. The jury will evaluate
bids and make a recommendation to this committee and the WMF based on
published criteria, reviewing the bids from November onwards until the
final selection is made in December 2014.
This is roughly 30-40 hours' work, and is key to us making Wikimania a
strong, healthy community conference that we all can enjoy. The
Wikimania Committee will select a jury that is a balanced representation
of the community, from a diverse range of backgrounds, sexes, languages,
cultures and regions of the world.
What we are looking for:
* seven members
* geographical diversity
* experience with events of this kind - either outside or inside the
movement, as organiser or long-time Wikimaniac
* members are required to read the Wikimania proposals on Meta Wiki
* members are required to participate in six conference calls to discuss
with each Wikimania proposal team and with the jury, approximate
duration two hours, during the review phase (approx. one to two weeks
around December)
If you would like to serve on the jury, please e-mail Ellie Young
(off-list) eyoung @ wikimedia.org August 24. We will announce the jury
in two weeks' time.
On behalf of the Wikimania Committee with regards,
Manuel

Hi all,
I'm currently looking at going for a domain name this group can purchase
and use it for any official communication plus use it for our websites in
the near future.
Currently, these two are the options I'm looking at,
Wikimedia.org.gh
Wikimedia.gh
Which one do you recommend?
Thanks
