Hello,
I chanced upon this message below in one of the Wikimedia groups on social
media where the team at the foundation is curating pictures and views from
people who would be nominated by others in the movement. Check the message
below;
*"Who would you nominate to highlight on the Wikipedia Facebook page?*
*Last year we rolled out Facebook profile picture frames as a fun way to
show your support for Wikipedia without a donation. We’re unveiling a new
design this year, so let’s share the people behind the movement, while
we’re at it! We’ll swap out Wikipedia’s logo on the main Facebook page for
a photo of a daily featured Wikimedian and share something about their
work. Promote your WikiProject, invite readers to your group, or tell the
work “why #ILoveWikipedia
<https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/ilovewikipedia?source=feed_text>.” Who
should we amplify? (Yes, you can nominate yourself!)*
*Go to this link, then search for Wikipedia:*"
As a way of supporting the foundation in their fundraising drive, we would
like to profile all members of the Wikimedia Ghana User Group (If you are
willing to be profiled) with a 140 character text of why you edit Wikipedia
and its sister project in Ghana with the hashtag #ILoveWikipedia. You can
send a preferred picture and 140 character text of why you edit Wikipedia
if you want to profiled on our various social media pages.
Also be aware that once you choose to go public with why your work with
Wikipedia you might encounter all sort of request about people wanting you
to create articles for them. Please note that this might be an
inconvenience to you but you can always refer those people to the notability
criteria <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notability_in_the_English_Wikipedia>
for article creation in Wikipedia. Also be on the lookout for people who
are willing to do everything to be on Wikipedia. Check out this article on paid
editing
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conflict-of-interest_editing_on_Wikipedia> which
is now referred to us conflict of interest editing as a guide for you.
Have any questions on how to get profiled reach out to me.
Best Regards,
Justice.

*Hello all, happy new month!*
Starting our 2017/2018 operational year we need to update our membership
list.
We need to know the number of members we have. We also need some
information to identify our members, just in case a query comes from the
Wikimedia Foundation or other affiliates about a grant, project, conference
travel opportunity, etc which you are trying to access in the name of the
group.
Use this opportunity also to update your contact and social media details.
The usergroup cannot assume membership for anyone and we are not carrying
forward names. *You must put your name on the list yourself.*
*Eligibility for being a member remains the same*
– You should be a Wikimedian who contributes content or someone interested
in providing positive inputs into Wikimedia projects promotion in Ghana.
Some benefits of being part of Wikimedia Ghana UG in general is:
– Assistance in applying for grants for your ideas
– Admittance into events and meetings which are meant for group members
– Assistance from event and social media volunteers to promote the things
you do
– Representing user group at WMF events, where WMF has reserved spots for
affiliates (per global and user group criteria)
– Program leadership
As always, membership fees remain GHS0.00
*Register or renew your membership today, here
<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1DTklAhIlH_RORnYK_jiEt70wJV8R4M2ko0M62rCwlN…>.*
Deadline is 8th November 2017
