Hello all,
The event discussed below won't be happening today nor tomorrow. There's an
ongoing something-week at Poly so the letter has been sent in indicating
the date to be the 2nd of November, 2016.
Probable time given us is 12 noon. Will communicate further details as and
when I get it.
At least, an extra week to prepare, I think.

Can we all agree on a single Category on Wikimedia Commons in which all
Barcamp Ghana pictures will be stored?
So, here's what I propose. Any Barcamp Ghana related image(s) uploaded to
Wikimedia Commons, should have at least these 2 Categories attached. It
could be more, but at least these 2 should be fine:
- Barcamp Ghana
- Barcamp [Name of Town or City] e.g Barcamp Accra or Barcamp Koforidua
Although one or two Wikimedia-sessions related images are taken at
Barcamps, a quick search doesn't reveal much on Wikimedia Commons:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?search=Barcamp+Ghana&title=Specia…
I personally haven't been doing well on that, and hope to improve, sharing
one or two images I have today.
If owners of the images in this link too can share the Wiki-related parts
to Commons, it'll be great:

We became a usergroup in 2014 I think hence there's no past 'couple of
years' but just 2015 in which Felix went.
This was what he sent to the group. There was no group discussion
necessarily.
----
Good Afternoon Guys,
I wish to inform you that am looking at representing the community here in
Ghana at the Wikimedia Conference 2015 in Berlin.
I received the mail below from Alex Wang concerning the conference and a
pre-conference they wish to host for PEG Program Leaders. I have filled the
form and wish to inform you all that i will be glad to represent you all at
the conference in my capacity as the community manager and in my bid to
seek the wellness of this community.
I have been working hard to get this community up to standing and vibrant.
One of the selection criteria i noticed was events organised and recent
activity level which we currently are in check.
I am enthused about the event and pretty sure it will be an avenue to
discuss and suggest ways to shape this community. Let me know what you all
think!
Tahnks.
------
Then nearing his departure he sent this
----
Greetings all,
I am pleased to announce that next week Tuesday the 12th May, 2015 i will
be departing from Ghana to represent the community at the upcoming WMCON 15
in Berlin scheduled for 15th - 17th May, 2015.
The purpose of this gathering is for the leaders of the various
affiliations to meet discuss community problems and challenges and find
possible ways to address such issues. Also discussion on the way forward
for the movement and other crucial matters are addressed.
We humbly ask that you share your problems as a Wikimedian or on any other
thing that you think is just not right in this community or the movement.
We will be glad if you can share all your sentiments through this form

Best regards,

I have started with the report so we meet eligibility. We already have an
informal list of all we have been up to. I started moving them yesterday.
Expect an update.

Hello all.
WMF wrote last week to inform us that WMCON 2017 in Berlin will be on next
year.
The group has to meet a few conditions so someone can have a chance to
represent us. No worries on that Rexford and I will arrange for those
conditions to be sorted so the group can be represented.
PLEASE NOTE
If you want to go to Berlin on our behalf please read
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Conference_2017>:
Next week we can start talks on who gets to go as our delegate.
Regards,

I picked this from the African mailing list. I think this is good stuff:
*What is Wikipack Africa ? *
WikiPack Africa is an action pack containing devices, material and content
to facilitate the outreach work done by local Wikimedia chapters, local
Wikimedia User Groups and isolated individuals in African countries. The
pack allows for ongoing training and contribution even when technology,
access and electricity outages fail or are not available at all.
It operates thanks to a Raspberry server and an off-line editing
environment that mimics the Wikipedia called WikiFundi. WikiFundi, the
offline editing environment, is to be used in the training of Wikipedians
and the development of articles by groups.
In addition to WikiFundi, the Raspberry PI will also be loaded with
off-line copies of Wikipedia, select WikiBooks, Wiktionary and a resource
pack that will assist with and support contribution to Wikipedia. Other
outreach and reading resources will also be part of the packs. All digital
resources and the application platform are available under a free licence.
When delivered, the Wikipack Africa will also comprise some offline
materials (posters, leaflets, pull-up banner, tee-shirts, etc.).
The langages implemented are French and English.
More information available at
* https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipack_Africa
* https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiFundi
Documentation on meta is available in both langages
The current call for application is meant to be a pilot for the Wikipack
Africa. We have a limited number of servers available, so please only make
a request if you really intend to use the pack and are confronted to
connectivity issues.
Please note: should your request be granted, there will be an obligation
to provide details of its use, and usefulness as a tool for outreach in
the form of a survey. This could be requested several times up to 12 months
after you have received the unit. This is meant to evaluate the userfulness
of the tool as well as identify issues or to help us take into account
improvement requests in a future release.
*How to apply*
Link : http://tinyurl.com/j78yyk3
Answers may be provided in French or English.
For any further information, please contact Anthere or Isla.
*Who did that ?*
The project has been conceptualised and conceived by Florence Devouard and
Isla Haddow-Flood.
The project is run in partnership with Wikimedia CH and the Orange
Foundation and is primarily implemented by Florence, Isla, and Emmanuel
Engelhart (the Kiwix master).
