Hi all,
I'm working on a Rapid Grant and will love to know your thoughts.
*Short Story*
This year, I'll be joining the Barcamp Ghana team as their 'video guy' on a
volunteer basis for all the upcoming Barcamp events for this year, at least.
I hope to ride on the opportunity to be in the 10 regions of Ghana before
the end of this year to gather as much multimedia content as possible and
share onto Commons related to tourist sites, monuments, landmarks, flora
and fauna, parks, museums, culture, personalities and anything in between.
The document is currently in my workspace and I hope to move to proposal
later on if all sounds good.
Find the link to the document here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Nkansahrexford/barcamptravel
I hope to hear feedback from you all what they think of it, and if it worth
proceeding with. More details of what the results of the project is
expected to be are in the link.
If it doesn't look right and or there's something that's missed, please
share.
Hope to hear your thoughts.
Sounds like good news

.
Wikimedia Ghana UG in our own small way have been talking to local telcos
about Wikipedia Zero since MTN joined.
Any other conversations going on in your countries about Zero? I know SA is
in already. How is it moving along?

Happy Mother Language Day to you all,
Today on Tech & Social Media Trends on the Citi Breakfast Show, I spoke
about the availability of Akan Wikipedia and Ewe Wikipedia: ak.wikipedia.org
and ee.wikipedia.org respectively.
The timing is right because it's only this week we are trying to get more
people editing the two local language wikis.
A reminder of local language activities is that some members who showed
interest are going to join the 16 African Women Translate-a-thon
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/16_African_Women_Translate-a-thon>, local
activities.

16 African Women Translate-a-thon
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/16_African_Women_Translate-a-thon> is
upcoming. I wish that we use the opportunity to translate at least one
article into Akan for our Akan Wikipedia which has been neglected for a
long time.
Yaa Asantewaa is on the list and I was hoping we can improve her Akan
article.
I wanted to suggest activities late in the year dedicated to the Akan
Wikipedia and other local languages if there are editors to support.
However I think we can start today.
If you are interested please write to me stei(a)wmgh.org. Please if you are
already involved in Barcamp Wikipedia I'll suggest you don't join OR you
drop it to join this instead. You might burn out.
If you can handle both w/o any problems, you are always welcome.
