Hey all,
Seems like there is decent enough content as well as activity on Javanese Wikisource to merit the creation of a separate domain.[1] It fulfils the criteria.[2][3]
There is already a Javanese Wikipedia so language verification won't be a problem here either.

It makes me so glad to see new Wikisources coming up!

Hi all, i am afraid i cannot be objective with a language that i have uch a severe crush on. ;-) So, yes, I do suggest approving it. Jan

Hi,
My 2 cents and a quick remark.
More and more often, Wikisources use the proofread page extension (which allows to ensure good quality and help working together through microtasking). But the Javanse Wikisource doesn't seem to use this extension often. And when they use it, they change the script (see https://wikisource.org/wiki/Page:Bali-lontar-aji-kreket-550ppi.pdf/1 for instance).
This extension is obviously not mandatory (if you look at https://phetools.toolforge.org/statistics.php the average is 40% of pages with a scan and only 18 of the 70 wikisources are above this average) *but* there is strong correlation between the percentage of pages with scan and the activity/strength of the community ; I guess using the Proofread page extension should be promoted. There is a probably trade-off to find between interfering and letting a community grow on its own...
All in all, this project seems to be indeed quite active and should be approved in middle- if not short-term. But maybe "someone" should contact and encourage them to use more the proofread page extension.
Cheers, ~nicolas

@ Nicolas: Would you be willing to contact the community and suggest the increased use of the proofread extension yourself? :-)

Hi y'all,
Sure, done: I made a comment on https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requests_for_new_languages/Wikisource_Javane...
That said, I would like to know where the members of the Language Committee stand on this matter. Should it be only an advice/comment and should it be more enforced? (I know the Wikisource Community itself is on the fence and most don't have a strong opinion either way).
Cheers, ~~~~

Hoi, Why not ask for funding improving the font? It is not the first time money for UNICODE development was paid for by the WMF. Thanks, GerardM

Thanks! I have to admit I'm not aware of the Wikisource community discussions on this matter. Would there be a good way of enforcing the use of the extension anyway? I'd think it's best to make it as easy as possible to use -- surely the practicality of the extension itself is already the best advertisement for it?
@ Gerard: is your comment about the comment on the wiki page from 2008? I think that issue was already solved.
When people ask for the development of UNICODE definitions and associated fonts, there is no such thing as "resolved" when there is a need for them. Thanks, GerardM

I don't understand what's the issue with the font at all. Javanese Wikimedians use both Latin and Javanese scripts and no one is complaining. The Wikisource in Javanese should be created ASAP.

Yes. The only reason why I have not yet filed a phabricator task for the creation of the wiki is that I am waiting for an EDP about local uploads to be finished, so that the new wiki can be created with "local uploads enabled" (< https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requests_for_new_languages/Wikisource_Javane...
).
