These are still awaiting language verification, and both projects have provided the names of language experts for the purpose of verification. Has anybody taken any action on these yet?

MF-W: I guess I was logged out when I first looked at it. It is, indeed, only semiprotected. (rueful grin)
Jon Harald: Please look at my draft at https://no.wikinews.org/wiki/Wikinytt:Forside/soft. I wrote it in English, then machine translated it (on Google) to get the Norwegian. But I'd appreciate it if you'd clean up the Norwegian so I can put it in place. (Also: feel free to add yourself as a contact point, seeing that (a) you speak the language, and (b) you're involved with Wikimedia Norge.)

The PCP to close Norwegian Wikinews has been closed as technically rejected: Wiki to stay open, but to be soft-closed, per the recent discussion. Help to create that soft-close page (Jon Harald?) and/or move it into place given full protection of the current main page (MF-Warburg?) would be appreciated.

If we go to the soft close, then someone (I guess Jon Harald) should copy over the current front page of Swedish Wikinews and turn it into Norwegian. Then a steward or GS (MF-W?) will have to put it in place, because it's a fully protected page.

The compromise position on Norwegian Wikinews would be the "soft close" that several people in the discussion have suggested. There's a link from there to show how Swedish Wikinews did it. This way, the current, arguably embarrassing, content would be out of sight. At the same time, the infrastructure would remain intact, in case someone wants to reactivate the project in the future. How does that sound?

Concerning Bosnian Wikibooks: That's fine. Assuming no further comments by tomorrow (one week after I brought it back up to the committee), I will close that one as unsuccessful (that is, project remains open). That said, Milos, I would encourage you to look through the small number of mainspace pages there and see if there is anything that shouldn't be there. (One of the posters on that proposal claimed that one page was in English, and one appeared to be spam. You can certainly mark inappropriate pages for deletion and have a steward or GS sweep around and delete them.)
Concerning Norwegian Wikinews: I haven't heard from anyone yet. So I will assume a seven day clock starting today, and if I hear nothing further I will also close that as unsuccessful.

Hello, all:
There are two requests at "Proposals for Closing Projects" that have been lingering for a long while without action here. I am wondering whether or not we can work to close these two requests.
Bosnian (Bosnanski) Wikibooks<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Proposals_for_closing_projects/Closure_of_B…>
Since the creation of this request in January 2015, about 20 users have commented. In general, the arguments SUPPORTING state that there are only 37 (or so) mainspace pages in the wiki, that almost none have been created in the last several years, and that some of the pages seem to be spam-like. In other words, on top of inactivity, there is also a lack of content. The arguments OPPOSING basically state that "inactivity is not a reason", and that the project does no harm remaining open.
I'm thinking that perhaps Milos (in particular) should take a look at this project. From a pure policy perspective, I don't think there is a justification to close the project. Yet I do wonder whether or not a project in this condition wouldn't be better served by being imported into Incubator.
Norwegian Wikinews 3<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Proposals_for_closing_projects/Closure_of_N…>
In this case, the proposal was posted in October 2016. About two dozen support, and 4–5 oppose. The OPPOSES again basically state "inactivity is no reason". Even when the project is idle, it is worthwhile having it available in case something happens that stimulates people to kick it back into gear.
The SUPPORTS state that there was some partially unrecoverable vandalism (such that the dates on many news items were reset to the date the vandalism was reverted). Apparently much of the support comes from the Norwegian Wikipedia community, too—and there is quite a bit of talk about a "soft closure" such as happened at Swedish Wikinews if this proposal fails. Jon Harald, would you mind having a look?
Again, it's hard for me to see a justification for this from a pure policy perspective. Yet the rebirth of Dutch Wikinews from Incubator earlier this year makes we wonder if the project wouldn't be better better served from Incubator.
Thanks to all for your follow-up.

I know that I am throwing a lot of items out there in a short time for your information. Most of what I am trying to do for now is to dispose of old requests, particularly ones that should not really be controversial. To that end, in this email I am addressing the following requests—opened in 2010 or earlier—for Wiktionaries:
* Meänkieli<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requests_for_new_languages/Wiktionary_Me%C3…>: Marked as eligible. (There is a Wikipedia request already marked as eligible.)
* Wymysorys<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requests_for_new_languages/Wiktionary_Wymys…>: Marked as eligible. (There is a Wikipedia request already marked as eligible, under "Vilamovian")
* Romagnol<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requests_for_new_languages/Wiktionary_Romag…>: Marked as eligible. As you know, there is a Wikipedia in "Emilia-Romagna" (langcode eml). SIL subsequently retired that code, dividing into a code for Emilian (egl) and one for Romagnol (rgn). The Wikipedia is really in Emilian and will eventually be recoded. There is a Wiktionary request for Emilian already marked "eligible". But Romagnol is also clearly eligible.
* Slovincian<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requests_for_new_languages/Wiktionary_Slovi…>: Rejected. Has no valid language code; generally considered a dialect of Kashubian (csb). (The last non-housekeeping edit on this request was in 2010.)
I also marked a new request, Wikisource Urdu<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requests_for_new_languages/Wikisource_Urdu>, as eligible, because it clearly is.
Respectfully,
Steven

I forgot to mention: None of the projects marked as "eligible" is anywhere close to meeting the requirements for final approval.
