Hello all,
We have a booth at Maker Faire on May 17th and 18th, in San Mateo, and we are urgently looking for your help! We are looking for volunteers who can staff the booth and talk about Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects with the show attendees. Maker Faire is a lot of fun, and people usually have lots of questions about Wikipedia. Help us demonstrate how Wikipedia works!
We are looking particularly for people who can help with:
* setup on Friday evening * staff for Saturday * staff and coordinator for Sunday -- the coordinator will help make sure that everything is supervised on Sunday, and take down the booth at the end of the day * someone with a car to transport material on Sunday
Please email me if you can join! Of course, all levels of experience with Wikipedia are welcome. We have some free tickets available for volunteers, so please email me for more information. More details are available on our Wikipedia meet-up page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/San_Francisco/Maker_Faire_201...

Hi! I'll be working with the Serpent Twins in the afternoon from 2:30 - close on both Saturday and Sunday this year (come by and see us!) but can help set up and will come by for an hour on Saturday. If you are really pressed for a vehicle to put stuff into on Sunday I might be able to help with that but I also have to help pack up the Twins, so I might not be your best option. Look forward to seeing everyone there!

Hello all --
Just a pitch for Maker Faire: if you've seen these postings and thought about volunteering but never done it, or have the slightest interest in going to Maker Faire but have never been (and talking about Wikipedia to strangers and being around crowds of people doesn't give you hives) ... I strongly, strongly encourage you to do it!
For various reasons we didn't know we had the booth til recently, so this is even more last minute than usual. So, if you can help please do (and it will be tough for any of the "regular" organizers to come on Sunday, so that's a particularly good day). Take your friends, do a little evangelizing about Wikipedia and see a great show :)
Also, we have a bunch of accumulated experience about what to bring, how to park, etc. to make the day easier -- check past Maker Faire planning pages on Wikipedia, or just ask and I'd be glad to elaborate.

I can help out on Sunday if I can hitch a ride with someone from somewhere in the east bay, or even SF. (I'd come on public transit, but it looks 2+ hours each way from Berkeley.)
Best, Kevin Gorman
