Hi everyone! The monthly meetup is happening this Thursday, 6.30 pm at Double Union and online! Registering and events organization misc As there is now an Event namespace on English Wikipedia, and to simplify our organizing work, we're moving registration there. Please register so we can plan pizza and drinks accordingly :) Next month we will only have on wiki event registration. We're gradually updating all pages to reflect this change. April 10 meetup, editathon recap and news

Hi all! We had a lovely editathon on Women in UX design on March 27th. We welcomed new editors, and tested our new hybrid setup. It works quite well! So do join our next meetup remotely if that is what is convenient for you. It will be on Thursday April 10 at 6.30pm. Registration (in person and online) is available on Eventbrite: [https://www.eventbrite.com/e/bay-area-wikipedians-workshop-tickets-12554190…. Agenda below. We also received good and bad news. Good news is that our rapid grant request was partially funded and will be paying for pizzas, drinks, and miscellaneous that we had so far been covering to organize our meetups and community events. Bad news is that we were not recognized by the affiliation committee as a user group. After some investigation, it appears they want us to hold yearly elections for organizers. We've added this to the agenda for April 10th. ---- April agenda: - Introductions - Housekeeping - Progress on partnership with SF Historical Society - Should we have a group chat to keep in touch between meetup? - Affiliation committee and rapid grant - Working groups: come share what you've been working on and socialize, or get advice and find new collaborators. Hi all! So glad to see so many of you at our March meetup. I'll get more chairs before next time. We've also worked out a better presentation system, and unpacked the hybrid meeting setup, to hopefully allows anyone who wants to join us in April to do so. Whether you are a new or an experienced editor, please join us to celebrate Women History month for an editathon on Women in UX design. March 27, 6-8PM at Double Union and online. Hi everyone, I can now confirm our March meetup will happen at Double Union (650 Florida St suite m), and the [event registration page is up](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/bay-area-wikipedians-workshop-tickets-1255…. We have also secured a video conference system! If you would like to join us online, please send me an email. We have not tried setting it up yet, so expect we might bump into a few issues, but we will do our best. On the agenda: - introductions: who does not love a good Wikiography? - take aways from WikiCredCon (also: free teeshirts) - pizza - upcoming events (SF historical society, photowalks, updates about SFPL) - general discussion/anything you'd like to add We will then break into smaller groups. Travis will be introducing tools for developers interested in supporting wikimedia projects, so if you have a friend who qualifies, please bring them! Since I work in Pleasant Hill and I've been looking for an excuse to visit DVC, I'll be making an appearance and possibly helping out. > we have received many requests for making the meetups hybrid. Does anyone have a proper *video conference system* they'd be willing to lend or donate? I'm thinking one of these systems with cameras and microphones that can follow who's speaking. They're not too expensive secondhand, but I thought I'd check here first. Isn't that the sort of thing that the Foundation should be reimbursing user groups for? Or is wikimedia-sf not an official user group yet?
