Dear Bay Area Wikimedians:
We have two upcoming Bay Area Wiki Salon events this month!
First, the February Salon, coming up this Thursday 7 February, where we
will focus on Good Articles; and then a Wiki-a-thon (edit/upload-a-thon) at
the Prelinger Library, an appropriation-friendly collection 19th and 20th
century historical ephemera, periodicals, maps, and books not commonly
found in other public libraries, much of which is in the public domain.
See below for more information and links, and we hope to see/work with you
at one or both of these events!
If you want to give a lightning talk at the 7 February Salon, please get in
touch with the organizers via the Meetup page. If you plan to come to the
17 February Wiki-a-thon and are interested in helping Wiki newcomers get
started, please email me.

Dear WikiLovers,
We are conducting a small research project on 'spam filtering' on Wikipedia
and are interviewing (10mins only) select few superusers to get their
feedback, their views and their suggestions to improve the process. In
return for your valuable time, we would share the findings of the study in
due time and hope the results will make Wikipedia a better place for the
readers.
Please let me know if you would be willing to take part in the study for 10
min interviews (over call on Sun/mon/Tue (20/21/22 January).
Thanks,
Abhishek

Hi all,
I just wanted to let you know that I've submitted a proposal to do a
Wikipedia Day celebration at
Stanford: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project/Rapid/L235/Stanford_Wikipedi….
If you have any thoughts or would like to voice support, please leave a
note at that page!
If you're still considering whether to host an event, I strongly
encourage you to do so! You still have some time today to apply for
Foundation support, and I can attest that everyone has been very helpful
throughout this process.
Thank you!
Kevin

Hey, folks. Wednesday evening is the Bay Area WikiSalon series, and you are
invited! The topic will be "Did you know ... ?"
There will be lots of time for munching and saloning too.

See yah! Wayne, on behalf of the coordinating team (Avik, Lodewijk,
Stephen, Ben, and Wayne)
Wednesday, September 26 at 6 p.m...
Periodically, on a last Wednesday evening of the month, wiki and
open-source enthusiasts meet up to mingle, munch, collaborate or learn
about new projects and ideas. At each *WikiSalon*
we plan a brief formal presentation; some will help orient people new
to the wiki/open-source world, with others geared to more experienced
people. Many presentations will have broad appeal to
non-wiki/non-open-source folks. We hope you will join us! Note: We are
extremely inclusive – broadly construed – plus we adhere to the
friendly place policies of the Wikimedia Foundation.
