Hi,
Want to try your new Wikipedia skills improving stubs [1] (of course I recommend Ghana and Africa related :-)) and win Amazon vouchers, then;
The Stub Contest [2] is a short intensive contest focusing on de-stubbing and expanding as many of Wikipedia's stub articles as possible. It has been run twice: first in November/December 2004, and then December 1-31 2013. Nine years is a long time between drinks!
It is running again, from 1 - 30 September 2014, with prizes (Amazon vouchers) awarded a few weeks afterwards.
The prizes will be a 100 Euro voucher for Amazon for first place, EURO 50 for 2nd place, EURO 25 for 3rd and 4th place, with EURO 25 special prizes for the editor who de-stubs the oldest stub (dated from first day of creation) and EURO 25 special prize for the editor who de-stubs the stub that received the highest number of page views on September 1st 2014 (i.e. the first day of the competition).
Good luck! :-)

Will it not be said as the paid editing? Because the winners will be paid money, or vouchers or whatever because of their edits.
I hardly see any difference between this and paid editing. Its like encouraging someone to edit anything he likes, and reimbursing him or her at the end.

hi rex, paid editing usually means that you edit the article you are paid for. and therefore a conflict of interest comes with it. here you are encouraged to improve what seems necessary from a wikipedia standpoint. besides that there are only a couple of prices.

Trust me Rex, I will never classify this contest as WP:PAY. If you it is then you're saying we shouldn't organize contests to improve articles?
Also to *you* contests such as Welcome to Setswana Wikipedia Challenge http://www.google.com/events/setswana-wiki/index.html by Google in Botswana, and others, was WP:PAY https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:PAY? I recommend you read all about WP:PAY before putting good initiatives in the hole! :P
Thanks Rupert for passing by.
WP:PAY = Paid Editing :)
Best Regards!
