Good evening.
We have all been working hard trying to get bylaws finished.
Wikimedia Ghana User Group will need board members for our non profit.
Please, publicly send your nominations for board members. You can post here.
At this time, select someone you know, and trust, can do this thankless
unpaid job without drama;
People who have been dedicated to this group, and will put this group
first; people, who won't bail when it gets tough;
People who know about the affairs of the Wikimedia movement, and understand
where digital technology especially for the open movement is heading.
Now in our initial bylaws, we mentioned that while our group members can
belong to other Ghanaian Wikimedia groups, we aren't really sure if it's a
good idea for someone sitting on the board of another Ghanaian Wikimedian
community to also hold a voting position on Wikimedia Ghana's board.
Maybe we can confer an advisory role. But for some running their own
community somewhere to come dictate what we should do with our resources
and activities, till date, some of us are not too sure if it will benefit
this community.
However, it's a decision worth taking together, and solidifying.
Hence, with this information, kindly start sharing names of who your board
members are.
You can use the mailing list. No private messages.
Please note that if you got this via WhatsApp or Telegram, it's the same
thing. No need to nominate here also.
Having the names by September 4 will be good.

Hello,
Manful (https://twitter.com/Kuukuwa_) wins grant to digitise endangered
architectural documents in Accra [1]
I'm not sure what the eventual license of the digitized documents will be
in. Just putting this news through here, perhaps the user group could
connect with Manful to learn more of the license, and see if can siphon
some (if not all) of the digitization content onto Wikimedia Commons.

Hi all,
Our Wikimedia 2030 strategy salon would happen on the 20th of July at the
Impact Hub Accra from 11am to 3pm. Due to the nature of the salon I reached
out to experience and old members of our User group I believe have certain
experiences to participate.
We have 3 open spaces left for anyone who would love to join this salon.
This is a hands on salon and you full cooperation would be needed, the
three people would be selected on a first come basis and you must confirm
participation. Also the twelve people I have reached out to and who have
confirmed shouldn’t respond to this call.
Please confirm participation by close of Friday lets start making
preparations for the salon. Find link below to know more about Wikimedia
2030.
Looking forward to hearing from you all soon.
Thanks.

Hi All,
If you use Wikimedia Commons a lot yet when you send OTRS forms it becomes
difficult for people to donate their images.
Then this is a one stop video for all you need to know.
Spread it wide.
Regards,
Justice.

Hello.
We have released a comprehensive tutorial video -- as one medium-length
video and as several shorter clips -- aimed at helping non-Wikimedians
submit media to Wikimedia Commons via OTRS.
This video is the result of a pilot project within the framework of
the Community
Capacity Development <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/CCD>[1] program at
the Wikimedia Foundation. It was led by Asaf Bartov
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Asaf_(WMF)>[2], from the Community
Development team, with the active involvement of an advisory committee made
up of experienced OTRS and Commons volunteers. The script development and
video production were done by contractor Victor Grigas
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:VGrigas_(WMF)>[3], and reviewed by
the advisory committee.
The video is intended to be useful to OTRS agents, Commons volunteers, and
Wikipedia volunteers in various languages, for helping *non-Wikimedians*
submit media via OTRS. It is hoped that being able to refer people to the
video, in whole or in part (to the introduction plus a specific scenario,
perhaps), would save at least some of the *very common* back-and-forth
correspondence many OTRS agents have to conduct with non-Wikimedian
contributors struggling to understand copyright and Commons norms.
The video is designed to be easy to translate and localize, with no speech,
and a lot of interstitials, which should facilitate preparing localized
versions of the video(s).
The page describing the video, including links to the various versions, the
script, and even B-roll material, is here:
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Video_tutorial_on_how_to_submit_media_to_Wi…>*
I request your help in three ways:
1. Spread the news in your communities, and ensure your fellow volunteers
are aware of the availability of this resource.
2. Translate the video (the page itself is much less important) into your
language, if not English.
3. Provide feedback on the video, or on your use of it, ideally on-wiki, in
the talk page of the page linked above.
Thanks,
A.

Hello MTN Ghana users here.
Does Wikipedia Zero still work with MTN?
I use primarily MTN these days. I don't see any Wikipedia Zero banner.
So asking if it's still in place. Perhaps there was an update somewhere, I
might have missed it.
