Hi,
In February we discussed the Western Armenian Wikipedia.
Here's the request: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requests_for_new_languages/Wikipedia_Western...
As a reminder, it is a somewhat special case, because the current pages are not in an incubator, but in categories in the Armenian Wikipedia. MF-Warburg said that they can be imported to a new domain just as easily.
Here are the links to the collections of current pages, which I received by email:

Can we move towards approving it? Does anybody know an Armenian language expert to verify this?
Thanks!

Well... She will most likely approve it, because she has supported this project for a long time. Is she enough of a THIRD-PARTY expert?

You will have to write to her and ask. I got the three-letter code adopted.

Well, that's the thing: she periodically writes to me and asks when will this be approved :)
That's why I am not sure that it's right to call her "third-party".

Oh c'mon - there must be more Western Armenian scholars than just her, and even ones that haven't been involved with this project. LinguistList, the internet's largest linguistic database, lists 18 scholars for Armenian, see https://linguistlist.org/people/personal/browse-sc-action.cfm Recognise a familiar name? Write to them :) Or if you don't, look up their university webpage and find out whether *Western* Armenian is their specialty ... And, sorry to disappoint, no, I don't have the mental capacity currently to do that myself :(

Hi,
Maybe a stupid idea but can't you write to Susanna so she can give you name of scholars in Western Armenian? She is not herself a third-party (and not a scholar in Armenian AFAIK) but she can probably provide the name a third-party.
Cheers, ~nicolas
PS: Oliver you link doesn't work, I've got an error 404 and I don't see "Western Armenian" in https://linguistlist.org/people/personal/browse-sc.cfm?SearchType=SL just "Armenian", "Amernian, Classical", "Armenian, Middle"
@Nicolas
Sorry about the broken link, and thanks for the correction. Of course, Western Armenian doesn't show up in the drop-down menu because it hasn't been recognised as a separate language long enough, so presumably is subsumed. Of the 18 listed scholars, several have publications in scholar.google.com which seem to include non-Eastern Armenian dialects, e.g. https://scholar.google.de/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C5&q=Chirikba+Arme..., and the corresponding email address for that scholar is chirikba@wanadoo.nl mailto:chirikba@wanadoo.nl
If someone did the analysis for the others as I showed for Chirikba above, it should be possible to find a scholar that way, who is willing to do the evaluation ...
