Hello all, I would like to share with immense pleasure that finally Google OCR has started recognizing Gurmukhi text instead of showing Chinese characters. We have been editing Eastern Punjabi Wikisource regularly for the past few months. We also have some books which can be uploaded on local wiki only. I would like to propose that pa.wikisource.org be created. The Incubator project of Doteli Wikipedia seems growing day by day and the community members are really doing great stuff in incubator projects and translate wiki to move this project out from incubator. Hello, Wikimedia Foundation Language Committee! My name is Daniel Bogre Udell and I'm a co-founder at Wikitongues, a non-profit organization and international volunteer community dedicated to defending linguistic diversity. We're building the world's first public archive of every language in the world, and counting some very enthusiastic Wikimedians among our ranks, we're excited to announce that we've submitted a proposal <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project/Wikitongues_Poly_Feature_Set…> for this upcoming round of Wikimedia Project Grants to support Poly, an open source platform for sharing and learning languages. Poly stands to improve the language content for both Wiktionary and Wikivoyages by creating a broader network of language content aggregation. Through it, the breadth of these projects will be expanded and their language accuracy improved. Hoi, The practise of dropping upper case in the ISO-15934 is a MediaWiki practice that is incorrect. In the grand scheme of things it is only a minor matter. Mong is the correct code for the Mongolian script. The reason why mn-mong is not there is that it does not make sense to associate a scriot with a macro language, mn is in itself NOT a language it includes multiple languages and it is why it will not get support for a new language for a new project. So in conclusion, mn-mong can be understood to mean any Mongolian text written in the Mongolian script. In the current understanding of languages it is not precise and it is why it will not be approved for a new WMF project. Hoi, mn is the code ISO-639 for the language, Mong is the CLDR code for the script and CN is a code for the country where it is practices. The correct LANGUAGE code is either khk or mvf because as a macro language that does not have an existing project it is not eligible. Hi Christophe, According to the Language Committee Handbook,[1] I am notifying you that the committee supports the creation of the Livvi-Karelian Wikipedia at the domain olo.wikipedia.org. Livvi-Karelian[3] is one of the Karelian languages, spoken in Northern Russia. The Wikipedia in it has been active in the Incubator for over a year, and the texts in it were verified by an external expert (see the forwarded email below). If there are no objections from the Board, then after four days I will request the creation of the domain from Wikimedia's operations people. Thank you! Hi, The Wikipeda in the Livvi-Karelian language has been pretty active in the incubator. After noticing it, I sent a request to an expert I found: Tatyana Pashkova <https://petrsu.ru/persons/486/pashkova>, candidate of sciences <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candidate_of_Sciences> in the Petrozavodsk State University <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petrozavodsk_State_University>, specializing in Karelian languages. This was back in July, and today she finally replied and said that the language is indeed Livvi-Karelian (see the forwarded email conversation in Russian below).
