well ... this is why page creation by anonymous users is not so bad ...
And why it is impossible that Encyclopedia britannica needs to proof and
reproof each single word it writes
http://www.golem.de/0512/42221.html
"both" encyclopeadias - this means even that one that according to our
infos needs to proof every single word - has the same amout of critical
errors in the same articles only in different places ... - hmmmmm .....
considering that Encyclopedia Britannica is 237 years old and Wikipedia
only 5 .... hmmmmm ....
(sorry I don't have time to translate this article - maybe there's an
English one around as well???)
Well I suppose it is time to go "back to ordinary" functioning of
Wikipedia (anonymous users can create articles - this is even easier to
check to my opinion - just switch off all registered users and have
special regard to anonymous page creations).
Ciao, Sabine

Hi,
I just subscribed to draw the community's attention to:
http://www.wikipediaclassaction.org/
Apologies is if this is old news, but I hope people appreciate that the
vast size of the project means that it's very difficult to find out who
is aware, and to what extent, of any particular issue.
Best,

Hello everyone -
The fourth quarter fund drive for the Wikimedia Foundation will start on 00:00 UTC Friday 16
December and last until 00:00 UTC Friday 6 January. There is no specific goal for this drive but
we would like to at least cover all next quarter's spending along with the rest of this quarter.
That will require well over $500,000. A draft budget is on meta and will be open for public
comment soon (announcement will be on foundation-l and metas Goings On page).
Wikimedia needs your help to make sure this drive is a success. Some other charities spend up to
80% of donations on fundraising costs. With your continued help our only fundraising costs are
PayPal and bank fees. This means that over 95% of donations made to us go toward running the
foundation and its projects.
Here is what needs to be done:
1) make sure your language's translation of the fund drive documents are completed. See
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fund_drives/2005/Q4_planning/Translations
2) get somebody who can edit the foundation wiki to place a copy of your translation there
3) Put your translated fund drive notice on your wiki's [[MediaWiki:Sitenotice]] page soon after
the drive starts.
Everything else will be taken care of by myself and the Wikimedia team.
Sincerely,
Daniel Mayer,
Wikimedia CFO

Hi,
I need to switch the logo on the Wiktionary, but I'm not sure on
how to do that. There's a file called Wiki.png, and it's protected. But
what do I do after that?
Thanks,
James
The next Wikimedia fund drive will start on Friday 9 December and will end on Saturday 31
December. There is no specific goal, but we would like to at least cover the budget for the rest
of this year and the first quarter of next year. That means we need at least $500,000.
I therefore encourage all language communities to help make this drive a success by translating
the fund drive documents and placing fund drive notices on their wikis when the drive begins.
The translation coordination page is here:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fund_drives/2005/Q4_planning/Translations
The General coordinate page is here:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fund_drives/2005/Q4_planning
Thank you for any help you can offer. :)
Daniel Mayer,
Wikimedia CFO
