Dear all,
It's been too long! Let's have a meetup.
I added a list of possible dates here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/San_Francisco_11 Please indicate which works best for you (or proposed different dates) and propose locations and agenda items.
Suggested agenda items so far: * planning for Maker Faire (which I'm super excited about!) * potential spring field trips * recruiting more bay area editors to meetups
cheers, Phoebe

Spiffy! Count me in... I probably can't make it on Feb 20th but the other Saturdays look clear.
Suggested agenda items so far:
- planning for Maker Faire (which I'm super excited about!)
Yay!
- potential spring field trips

I think the important thing is making sure we have them regularly... people will come if there's something to come to! :D

Just as a heads up. The weekend of February 13th is presidents day, so probably not the best idea.
My personal vote is lets just meet at the tea thinger and do it in January. Worse comes to worse, it is a smaller "planning" meeting for bigger and more fun things later in the year. Maybe we can even get people to volunteer to "take charge" of planning one future meeting each.

After five years of what I thought were positive contributions, I got kicked off wikipedia by some editor with whom I disagreed, a little too strongly it seems. You get me reinstated as a bay area editor without all the stupid hoops, then I'd love to come to another meet-up.
You decide, my contributions to San Francisco history have stood up;

Hi Hank,
Sorry to hear you're having troubles on Wikipedia. Thankfully though, real-life get-togethers don't have much to do with online editing; a common interest in Wikimedia projects is all that is required. You are of course welcome to come to the meetup if you feel like attending.
best, Phoebe

I might add that an indefinitely banned editor showed up at the DC meetup this last weekend along with arbcom members, past and present, a staff member, a board member, admins, regular editors, random IPs and everyone had a great time, in spite of it.

Social Media Week SF is happening Feb. 1st - 5th. Is it possible we could fit it during one of those days.

Imagine a world in which every human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge. Help us make it a reality!
If you all want to meet up then that's fine with me -- I can't attend during a weekday, I'm afraid. But there's no law against having a meetup during the week, or having multiple meetups!
If anyone else has any suggestions or preferences, please *post them on the wiki* so that we can make an informed decision.

I'd actually prefer somewhere other than the tea place. I wasn't so impressed with it last time.
