What: SF Meetup #8 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/San_Francisco_8 ) When: 2pm on Saturday, November 8th Where: Metacafe Inc. / 537 Hamilton Av / Palo Alto, CA
Transportation: We're out of SF for the first time, so I'm sure there is going to be some transport difficulty. If you need a ride / can offer a ride - please speak up on list. Maybe we can work things out. Also remember that Metacafe is less than a mile from the Palo Alto Caltrain station.
Conversation topics: While we seem to "wing it" just fine, we can always plan a few conversation topics ahead of time. So if you have something you'd like to talk about - please feel free to speak up (Even if they are topics from Foundation-l).

Metacafe is a ten minute walk from the train station. Or twelve if you take University. Hamilton is shorter, but not as interesting. I take the train usually three days a week. There's also a big parking garage in back. It's free for three hours, perhaps all day on the weekend. I'll check.

Hello! Hola! Ciao!
I hope everybody is fine!
I am Mayo (user:lilaroja) from Italy and Spain now at the Bay Area. I am attending the Meet Up this Saturday.
I will come to the Meet Up by public transport from Berkeley. If someone else is also going from Berkeley or there is a group trip from San Francisco I am happy that we go together.
I am availeble to help with the preparation logistics if it is need it.
On Conversation topics: I don't know how the Meet Ups agenda work. But I would like to do a proposal: To reflect on the Wikipedia Governance model and the role of the Foundation and the Community though visualization techniques. I am doing an action research in this area and would be happy to facilitate it (http://www.onlinecreation.info).
Apart, I am also part of the Communicassion Commission of the World Social Forum, so it could also be an opportunity to reflect on the relationship with the World Social Forum in general and as a way to spread Wikipedia to the South and connect with other movements.
In solidarity! Mayo

A group trip from San Francisco sounds like a great plan. I don't really know where anything is other than the Wikimedia office, so if people want to meet there, that would be ideal!

Hello! Hola! Ciao!
I hope everybody is fine!!!
Concerning the Meet Up next Saturday 8th. If I go alone I will go by public transport from Berkeley; but if there is other people willing a ride from Berkeley or/and San Francisco to the Meet Up in Palo Alto I can take a car to go all together.
The plan could work like this:
1) People willing a ride from Berkeley we could meet at Downtown (or somewhere else) at 12 pm 2) People willing a ride from San Francisco, we can pick you up somewhere at 12:30 pm. For example at South Park with Jack London Alley http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=S+Park+St+%26+Jack+London+Alley,+San+Francisco,+San+Francisco,+California+94107&sll=37.781911,-122.393972&sspn=0.000971,0.002414&ie=UTF8&cd=1&geocode=FfZ_QAIdL2u0-A&ll=37.782163,-122.393811&spn=0.007767,0.019312&z=16&g=S+Park+St+%26+Jack+London+Alley,+San+Francisco,+San+Francisco,+California+94107&iwloc=addr
How does this plan sounds to you? I am flexible with the timings and places.

Metacafe is in an anonymous-looking low gray building which says "Lunar". It's on Hamilton, about halfway between Cowper and Webster.
Metacafe 537 Hamilton Av Palo Alto, CA
There's a big parking garage in the center of the block, directly in back of Metacafe. It has entrances from either Cowper or Webster, parking is free all day on the weekends.
The train runs hourly on the weekend, the one that leaves San Francisco at 13:00 arrives in Palo Alto at 14:02. Northbound trains leave Palo Alto every hour at 31 past the hour.
http://www.caltrain.org/timetable.html
It's about a 10 minute walk from the Palo Alto train station to Metacafe ... I take the train 3 days a week.
Hamilton is a little shorter, but University is more interesting. There's even an Apple store...
Hope to see you there!
