Next weekend is Wikimania https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania, the annual international festival of all things Wikipedia ^_^
Since I didn't see an SF-based event in the calendar https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/In-person_events, I created one for this Friday 🎉 😄 I'm thinking we could do hackathon stuff in the morning and workshops and a mixer in the afternoon. If anyone wants to help organize, please let me know! I'll try to have an event page this afternoon.

this sounds interesting! If it happens to work out with my schedule, I'll try to join - assuming we can organize it in a reasonably safe way.
The schedule is unfortunately not very generous towards the US westcoast, but Friday is the one day where we have a good amount of content in friendly hours. Were you thinking of doing watch parties maybe (could we set up three spaces with a big screen?) for those hours? That may be the closest we can get to a true Wikimania experience.
I'd be happy to help out with some logistics (although I don't have the bandwidth to pull it myself - so I'm very excited to see you take initiative!).

@Lodewijk, I was indeed thinking of doing watch parties! The WMF office has plenty of conference rooms, so we could indeed do 3 for the three scheduled tracks. But if anyone wants to focus more on in-person discussions, we could do that too. (GLAM in the Bay, anyone?? How to get your tech company to donate engineering time??)
As for safety, do you mean covid-wise? The office asks visitors to be vaccinated, and I asked folks to have a negative covid test or be willing to take one of the limited number I have to share.
I'd be very grateful for some in person logistical assistance the day-of, if anyone can 🙌
