Hi everyone!
You can find the notes and shared links from today's meetup [on this etherpad](https://etherpad.wikimedia.org/p/bawug), featuring discussions on the use of AI for editing, needs for local pictures, delays in a transit construction project in Boston, efforts to import datasets from the Free Law Project to Wikidata, and how Indian History is represented on Wikipedia. Next meetup: [July 11, 6.30-8.30pm](https://bookwhen.com/sequoiafabrica/e/ev-s36g-20240711183000) (please rsvp if you can, it helps with logistics), at 1736 18th street! We have invited a local researcher to present on research on AI tools in editing wikipedia, since there's a lot of interest in this.
We are also planning a Wiki Picnic (Wiknic) on Saturday August 17, 11am-2pm, at Mission Dolores Park (near Bart 16th/Mission in San Francisco).
Hope everyone is doing well!Emeline and Elan
Thanks Emeline and Elan!
So I guess this is the mailing list we were talking about? Fascinating!
Cheers, -Travis

Excellent to see this group becoming a bit more active again :)
I'm based in Palo Alto, and somehow every meetup I have a conflict for the past year - the universe conspiring and all... also on July 11 probably!
Hopefully more luck next time :) I'll pencil in August 17.

Yes there were like 12 people at the last meetup and tons of nerding out on various Wiki projects and issues!
Come join us next time, open invitation to anyone reading this email. We are very friendly, fun and respectful I swear.
Cheers, -Travis

And we usually have snacks (i'm just saying)
I was just at the North America Wikipedians meeting, and just wanted to relay that contributors in due standing are called to vote on the movement charter until July 9 https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Movement_Charter/en On Monday, June 24th, 2024 at 10:58 AM, Travis Briggs audiodude@gmail.com wrote:

Hey everyone,
We don't yet have an answer from our prospective speaker for July (a stanford researcher behind the [STORM project](https://sdtimes.com/ai/sd-times-open-source-project-of-the-week-storm/)). If they are unable to speak, we have a short presentation prepared about ~recent research on onboarding newcomers to Wikipedia.
A few of you emailed with questions about the [movement charter vote](https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Movement_Charter/en). As the deadline for voting is on July 9. and our meetup on July 11, we wanted to ask if there's interest in a short, online meeting next week to discuss it. We could host it monday evening.
