We need to schedule a meeting.
We have some stuff to discuss with the WikiConference West Coast. It's now late August, and January is just around the corner.
I'm sure there are some other things we can talk about too, perhaps discuss the WikiConference NYC, and how it wen this time? :)
Maybe we should meet up in the East Bay. How does Berkeley sound?
Cary
A good reminder: I followed up with both The Women's Building and The California Endowment, and updated the wiki accordingly:
http://2011.westcoastwikicon.org/wiki/Venue
The short summary: TCE is out, but The Women's Building is still in, and they have us tentatively down for January 15 and 16 (although we have to put down a $700 deposit to make it official).
Steven, any updates on the East Bay Community Foundation building?

Hi all - I sent this around earlier to some other folks. I was talking to someone at city hall in SF today and they brought me up to speed on this place: http://bayarea.the-hub.net/public/space__Hub%20SoMa.html
In the old Chron building (and environs) not too far from the office. Sounds like it might be an interesting space to try a meeting, or maybe even set up a regular 'collaboration' space. I'm not sure what the overhead is, or if there is any. The city is quite excited about promoting them.

Hey Jay,
Check the wiki. :-) We looked into it. Price is right, but it may be too small. Capacity for an open space-ish conference is about 100, and it would be tight at that number. We want to be prepared for 150 at least.
On the other hand, I think it would be a great party venue, and it would have a higher capacity in that situation. Plus, I talked to them about possible sponsorship, and they would definitely be open to that.
Let me know if you want an intro. The space is really beautiful; I'd recommend taking a look.

Oh I was just suggesting the hub space for a general, casual meet-up space opportunity, not so much for the big event. I hear good things about that. The hub folks sound interesting, but I just kinda want to see the space. It sounds like a really great idea.

Berkeley is definitely good for me, since I live on that side of the Bay.
However, depending on when it ends up being scheduled I could end up being in the UK at the time, so it wouldn't matter anyway. When were people thinking of meeting?

Hi all, Let's coordinate a day here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/San_Francisco_16
Back in the spring I raised an idea that we start meeting consistently on, say, the 1st Saturday of the month. So if you can't make it -- at least you know that there'll be another meeting the following month.
Of course we just zoomed by the first Saturday of the month for Sept and I don't know that we want to wait all the way to October. But what do people think of this idea?
Also: should we have a separate conference planning meeting in addition to the "regular" meetup?
best, Phoebe
I vote this weekend (the 11th)! That way we can decided on the WCWC11 venue (And maybe I'll remember to come!)

I'm potentially able to make it, and this weekend (11th) better than others as I'm in and out of town on business a lot these days...
