Trying to answer everything, & changing subject lines:
On the weekend proper, volunteers please check in at the Maker check-in booth, as explained here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/San_Francisco/Maker_Faire#How_...
On Friday, load-in info is here: http://cdn.oreilly.com/make/makerfaire/ba09/MF09_BA_Maker_Manual.pdf It says to come to gate CC; "security will issue a Temporary Vehicle Entry Permit to all vehicles entering the grounds. This Entry Permit will require your cellphone number to be listed." That's all the info I have about it. Call me or Jon if you get stuck. (will send numbers separately).
I did add the names of everyone who contacted me off list to the volunteer list.
Also: can we please try to use the wiki as much as possible for questions/answers? There are some volunteers who aren't on this list, and I don't want to overly spam the people who are that aren't involved :) Thanks! See you all this weekend!

Yes! Jon's stopping by mid-day. See offlist message.
For Friday: I plan to get there mid-afternoon, around 3pm. Wikihow will also be there around that time. You will need to go to gate CC if you are coming on Friday. Please contact me if you are planning to come down then (George, I know you're coming).
Everyone: sorry, all the mail about maker faire will be over soon :)

The plan for Friday goes something like this: I go to WMF HQ & pick up supplies then head to Maker Faire. Phoebe will also be in route. We'll setup, deploy the gear and that's about it. I don't think our setup will be all that major of an undertaking - As long as we have tables, network access & computers - everything should be a piece of cake.
The "doors" close at 8pm anyways.

Is the get in the front gate deal the same as later volunteers, or is there a list at the back entrance or what?
Thanks!

Is gate CC the one in back, behind the expo?
The event map shows that as "Maker and Volunteer check-in". Is that the right place for people showing up on the weekend proper to go, versus the front gate? Or do we find that out tomorrow afternoon when we show up? 8-)

My huge commendation to Jon and Phoebe for putting together an awesome little space for WP at this year's Maker Faire. Wish we could have done more, but in a sense it makes so much sense to see our volunteers building a volunteer space at a volunteer-oriented making event like Maker Faire. It's a real one of a kind.
And of course big props to all the volunteers who got to come out and join in the outreach efforts. Here's to many more (funnelcakes) and makerfaires!
Thanks! It was super fun. Thanks so much to Jon for sending in the application, getting all the details, doing setup & teardown & making the Wikimedia Trading Card game*, Ariel & Brion for the loan of the computers, to Jay for all the swag, to Austin for coding Guess the Language!**, and to everyone who was at the booth -- you all rock!
I am sure we'll be back next year... -- phoebe
