Good morning everyone Alliance For Affordable Internet is conducting a
research about zero rating internet in four African countries in Africa. Please share your thoughts about Wikipedia Zero
- Have you ever used Wikipedia zero?
Yes
- How was the user experience?
Great
3 How relevant is it?
It is relevant in a theoretical sense to me, but in practice, doesn't mean anything simply because I don't use the network Wikipedia Zero works on. Even if my network supports Wiki Zero, I doubt it'll count significantly towards my data usage.
4 What are your recommendations.
Wiki zero should try to spread to other networks in each country. At least, the first 3 network providers of each country will do. Sticking to one only? Not so useful for the majority
And since we're at it, could you pass on my greetings to the A4AI team, and kindly tell them if they can help initiate YouTube Zero and Stack Overflow Zero, it'll be a great addition to the Wiki Zero. Some of us don't only want to read and edit, but Watch and Code. :p
Thanks for your attention
I know I've answered the questions, but a quick question: What will this survey be used for? What has previous surveys been used for? Any link to them? Did previous surveys translate into significant results noticeable by the ordinary user such as myself?
By the way, I came across this and quote http://a4ai.org/visionand-strategy/:
We want everyone, everywhere, to be able to access the life-changing power of the Internet affordably. Our goal is to achieve the UN Broadband Commission target of entry-level broadband priced at less than 5% of monthly income, thereby enabling billions more people to come online.
Eeerrmm. "Priced at less than 5% of monthly income", awesome. But internet isn't only about the price. Just a thought. Didn't see any mention of speed on the endless pages on the official site http://a4ai.org/
Hope to reading response soon. thanks
