fyi, an article by sue gardner which, at least imo, shows nicely one of the
ways to write a wikipedia article:
http://suegardner.org/2012/08/15/how-to-write-a-wikipedia-article-its-easy/
one could add a hint to put a template to prevent people deleting the
article immediately ... but ... thats a detail :)

Sorry, but this might be a bit off-topic
I worked on a video explaining the basic idea behind WLM found
here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDiu4-xdLKE using a 3D character and
some slide presentation for use in my country.
Anyone to help make the video very nice and better-looking? My laptop
really struggled several days to get that short 3d video rendered. Its
got no voice-over yet. Any help?
Any ideas, comments to make that video nicer?
I'm from Ghana and we plan using it to introduce briefly what WLM is.
Sorry for the 'off-topicness'
Rexford.

Greetings WLM Members,
We have updated the app on Google Play
<https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.wikipedia.wlm> with
some important fixes and enhancements.
Here is a separate download link:
_http://dumps.wikimedia.org/android/WLM-v1.2.2.apk_
Changes in this version:
* Dynamically load campaign data - picks up campaign config changes
without requiring a new version of the app
* Camera and location features marked as optional to increase device
compatibility
* Localisation updates
* Increased accuracy when communicating with GPS satellites
* Disables 'Cancel upload' button when it is too late to cancel
* Bigger touch areas for checkboxes
* Moves {{Uploaded with WLM Mobile}} template to the source field on
file page
* Translated country name on monument page
* Fixed admin level display
* Strip bold/italic apostrophe markup from wikitext fields
* 'Back' after upload no longer returns you to upload progress
* Consistent photo upload comments
* Cache monuments in certain situations to reduce API calls
* Monument pin clustering disabled when zoomed in
* Lossless image compression
The app is now also available of the FOSS market, F-droid, at:
_http://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=org.wikipedia.wlm_
We are working on more fixes and enhancements, including a handy way to
upload more photos on Commons. This will make any mobile upload a
convenient placeholder for desktop uploads.
Please let us know if you have any issues by email or on the feedback
page
<http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wiki_Loves_Monuments_mobile_application/Feedb…>.
We have a new page for help with monument data issues:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wiki_Loves_Monuments_mobile_application/Data…

Adding to Phil's note, I think only the International, Israeli and the U.S.
sites are currently using a prominent button to encourage downloads of the
Android app. If other countries want to do the same, I think it would be
excellent. If you don't like the image used on the app with the lightning
(I know someone found it too dark), we could do other images or no image at
all. For the U.S. site, we substituted an image of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Anyway, please discuss any concerns with the design or anything else here
and let us know if we can help facilitate more promotion of the app through
the national sites.
Couple of other stories in the past few days that mention the app:

I think the Ghana WElcomes Wikimedia project draft is very verbose.
Can someone help strip the contents down a bit?

About Me <http://nkansahrexford.webs.com/>
Hello everyone,
The Planning Wikimedia Ghana team is working on sending a proposal to
the WMF for grant to work on a project we choose to call it in general
as, "Ghana Welcomes Wikimedia". However, there are sub-projects to this
umbrella project.
The draft was recently moved to the Wikis on Meta
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Ghana/Ghana_Welcomes_Wikimedia
Apply any needed corrections, additions and subtractions to the draft as
it fits the WMF strategies. You can leave your comments on its talk
page.
http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Wikimedia_Ghana/Ghana_Welc…
Note: The budget for the project has not yet been added. I'm still
working on it. You can help me by joining me on Google Drive so that we
do the tweaking together. But, the file will go on the Wiki by close of
friday.
The grant proposal will be sent maximum by Sunday, so your immediate
contribution is essential
