Hi All,
I hosted a breakout session at the just ended Barcamp in cape coast that
focused on driving our local contents to Wikipedia.
The session caught the eyes of many that were present in the session. I
however noticed their keen interest was to be conversant with the
technicalities of editing on Wikipedia. Unfortunately the internet was a
big detriment to the event hence not enabling me to go further into that.
I see this as a great opportunity for you Enoch, as you can contact them
ahead of time and book them for your training activity on the NVDay. Their
details Viz:
Harold Barber lil.guesto(a)yahoo.com
Richard Tamanjah tamanjah(a)gmail.com
Musa Tahiru tmusah6(a)gmail.com
Enyonam Valerie veyall(a)yahoo.com

Kofi Yeboah emeritus2011(a)gmail.com
Andrews Tetteh andrewstetteh27(a)gmail.com
Paa Kobina Baffoe valentineaikins(a)gmail.com
Lest i forget they are new recruits who will be editing from cape coast. So
i suugest you welcome them to the chapter, send them a few tutorials, add
them to the mailing list and give them all the support they need.
Cheers

We have a Facebook Group: Wikipedia Online Edit-a-thon. I hope I spelt it
right. Change the name to something standard that we can always use for
our online events. Eg Wikipedia Online Meet ups.
That page should hold all online trainings including yours to show our
concentrated efforts.
Report back to the group what happened. All the best.
Nb who went to barcamp cc? Any updates? Report? Photos?

Colleagues, get integrated. This is just beginning.
Also pay some attention to Indaba - the Wikimania for African issues specifically. It's in SA next year.

Sandister, wish you the best of luck in your studies. I really like been a apart of this team though am more an observer than a contributor, i want to ask for training so i can contribute more. Its there any body again in the Northern Region who I could probably meet for some enlightenment so that i could do more than I am doing now.

Good afternoon.
I may leave Ghana on the 17 of September to Cardiff for a year by God's
grace. Out of Ghana, yes but I am ever present for the affairs of this
group we are working hard to enlarge.
Any physical meeting where I am required, I will gladly let anyone
interested attend.
We have done a lot of talking on ideas etc While Rex & I are dealing with a
grant report, let's note these for our next move:
1. It is about time we appear on notable media eg newpapers, radio, TV etc.
We know people, so let's use our contacts. MEDIA PRESENCE
2. Tertiary students and BCampers have been more successful editors during
the past outreach. A SHIFT OF FOCUS TO TERTIARY TERRAIN and BARCAMPS.
2.a. I don't want us to rely solely on BCs. Let us snoop round for other
events we can recruit at and also think of our own events. EXPAND ON EVENT
ORGANISATION.
3. I am sure you liked the stickers and buttons etc you got. We need more
souvenirs. The Foundation arranged for some for us via post but the duty
imposed on it by customs was outrageous, and had to be sent back. It is all
a matter of writing back to WMF and making new arrangements and this time
each member will participate. Some will do the emailing, others will pick
up, others will distribute at events. SPREADING THE WORD WITH OUR
SOUVENIRS.
4. What kind of outreach are we doing next? NEXT PROJECT PLANS & POSITIONING
5. It's a new project year members please add your names and preferred
emails and mobile numbers. If your don't want to share number, that is fine
but email is compulsory. LIST OF THOSE INTERESTED IN 2013/2014 MEMBERSHIP &
OUTREACH<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiCvwpGu0gy9dG1ucldDVjM4R0l4S2…>
.
6. I am writing a report for group use. REPORT OF PROGRESS AND ASSESSING
IMPACT
You will hear from me again by September ending if nothing major comes up.
Till then, Kindly let the notes in caps be pointers for further discussion
and contribution.
