Community Positions & Coming Elections

Hi all, Quick one. This community is purely voluntary non full-time one. However we allow each other take positions so that work can still get done. This operational year *(August 2013-August 2014),* I am calling on all members who feel they have the time and interest in serving the community. *Needs of the community:* Strong social media and traditional media presence Constant updates on WMF news and updates of interesting things to do on Wikipedia Checking editing progress General care-taking of the team Project management and follow ups These will be the needs that will inform the positions coming up. If anyone wants to talk to me about these or has anything in mind, contact me. There will be voting btw. Nothing complex, just getting everyone involved. wikipedia administrator / checkuser not always desireable

hi, fyi, an old story written new, where access to users ip addresses is not desirable: http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2014/02/arabic-wikipedia/ one can construct of course scenarios that even being a normal admin is not desireable. e.g. be president of wikimedia Ghana, and being wikipedia admin at the same time probably is not the most brilliant of all ideas. rupert.

I guess they failed to count edits in developing countries, mostly in Africa... where people like Rexford Nkansah amd Oarabile Mumdongo among many others are making hard core edits by hand and mind. Can we go for grant for our one-month wikipedia in residence idea we have on board?
