Just to clarify the 16th celebration, what I meant by 'our day' is it is
our day. Today is our day as Wikipedians.
However today is more about social media outreach. The coming
Saturday/Sunday is the party & editathon bit which Georgina is handling.
*Social media plans*
Like I mentioned earlier basically let's go online and make 'noise' with
the hashtag *#HappyBirthdayWikipedia*. The are other hashtags going around
though.
Here are some of the thoughts you can add to your posts and tweets:
– Suggest a Wikipedia page that doesn't exist yet with the hashtag
#HappyBirthdayWikipedia to request that it gets created.
– Does any piece of information need a fix? Use the hashtag to request a
fix so a Wikipedian can take it from there.
– Say thank you to Wikipedia if you want to and add the hashtag to your
message.
– Have a meme? Share and add the hashtag.
– What was your first Wikipedia edited or created?
In fact anything you'd like to say, just do with the hashtag.
This week, Tech & Social Media trends on Citi FM breakfast show may pick it
and talk about it.
*Editathon*
On Saturday there'll be an editathon. If Georgina is able to, she'll host
the party afterwards.
I hope we are reflecting on how Wikipedia is helping the world of knowledge
and also giving some of us worthy causes to dedicate our time to, plus a
wonderful community to be a part of.
