Hello team
The winners of the photo contest will be announced tomorrow. You may
already see the (unfinished) draft blog post announcing the winners on
meta. A press release should be finalized during the day.
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Blog/Drafts/Wiki_Loves_Africa_
photographic_competition_announces_winning_pictures_!
After some brainstorming, Isla and I have decided that the 4th prize
(originally "jury prize") would be actually transformed in "community
prize". It will be a merge of jury and community selection :)
The idea is to have the community vote on the last prize, on a selection of
20 best images, made by the jury (these exclude the top 3 winners).
Accordingly, we have set up a page on Commons, where people can come and
vote
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wiki_Loves_Africa_2014/
Community_Prize_Selection
I would like to invite you to cast your vote.
Tomorrow afternoon, an invitation to vote will be send on twitter and
facebook. Please help us spread the word and in particular make sure that
local members/participants do participate if they want to in selecting that
last best image.

Dear Members of Wikimedia ZA, Wikimedia Usergroup Ghana, Wikimedia
Usergroup Cote d'Ivoire, Wikimedia Usergroup Tunisia, and Wikimedia
Usergroup Egypt.
As most of you know, I have been invited to be on the programme committee
for GLAM-WIKI 2015. The point being to get as many experienced Wikipedians
who have worked with GLAMs or want to work with GLAMs to apply. The other
point is to get Africa's important GLAMs to the conference to introduce
them to the benefits of the Open Movement and working with the Wikipedia
community in particular.
I would be grateful if you could share the following news among your
colleagues and any GLAM professionals you have been working with - and
apply yourself, if you think you fit the criteria!
The GLAM-WIKI conference will take place in early April. To find out more
take a look at the conference page: https://nl.wikimedia.org/wiki/GLAM-WIKI_

Hope that helps,
