Hi!
During updating Belarusian translation I received suggestion to use
: instead of Project:. I think will be good idea to make
same changes in Messages.php, which is used as base for translations.
In some messages wiki could be replaced with SITENAME (for example
in categoriespagetext)
With best regards,
Eugene.
As of 16:42 12/05/2006 UTC, "filewasdeleted" supports wiki markup.
Also, as advanced warning, I'll be changing the "X was moved to Y"
message so that the $1 parameter is a link to the redirect page with
"redirect=no" in the URL.

Just a heads-up to interface translators: MediaWiki:Members is
actually quite misleading. It says just "members" in English, so out of
context, it seems to mean "members" in the sense of a part of an
organization or group. When we translated it into Vietnamese, it ended
up being the same term we use for "registered user". In fact, it's used
in Special:Mostlinkedcategories (and nowhere else AFAICT) to refer
to all the pages that link to a particular category. So it might be
better to translate it as "pages".

I've filled out the Gmane subscribe form [1] and requested the group
name of "gmane.org.wikimedia.mediawiki.i18n", in keeping with the other
mediawiki-* lists here. [2] Once they approve, you can ask them to
import the existing messages. [3]

A small tip: to find most MediaWiki: messages that haven't yet been
translated, view the HTML source of Special:Allmessages and search
the source code for the following string:
" class="new" title="MediaWiki:
This will lead you to any redlinked pages in the MediaWiki namespace,
and the trailing colon ensures that you skip over any talk pages. I
found Niklas' "Internationalisation news" a lot more useful for finding
out about recent interface changes, but if you find that your wiki has
some catching-up to do, this is the way to go.

Does anyone know how long it'll take for this list to appear at Gmane? I
prefer to subscribe to this list as a newsgroup, since my e-mail inbox
gets full enough as it does.

Hallo!
Please take a look at
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:SiteMatrix#ps
and compare how the translation of "Pashto" is rendered there compared with
http://nike.users.idler.fi/betawiki/project:LanguagePs.php_and_MessagesPs.p…
where <span style="font-size: 16px;" > is used.
Some time ago I made some tests trying to find suitable font-family, font-size
for the different languages. I used conditional templates to write these texts
and longer texts in differnt variants. As far as I know this work is lost.
Before posting a feature request at MediaZIlla to include such informations
either in Names.php (eventualy inLanguageXx.php or MessagesXx.php) I would like
to know your opinion and what additional information is rerquired.
I am not familiar with HTML, X..., CSS . What information would be required in
such tags?
best regards user:gangleri
