Hello Dear Longcom Members,
I am Admin on Beta Wikiversity. Here is some my observations
1. If you type hi.wikinews.org it redirect on incubator. wikimedia.org/Wn/hi
2. If you type hi.wikisource.org it redirect on hindi wikisource main page
3. But when you type hi.Wikiversity. org it shows you error msg that this Wikiversity not started till now. You can go beta Wikiversity for your contribution.
Here is big problem. Because we made content. But content only used by me and my friends. If hi.Wikiversity.org redirect on beta Wikiversity main page then it is ok. Otherwise closure of Wikiversity is option. Thank you langcom
Looking at the discussions, I think beta wv should be closed. There are a few active and vocal editors there who firmly want it to remain, but this seems in part they want their own playground. Which is fine if the culture is constructive, but here it is not an improvement over the incubator & hasn't been for many years. Most editors there would be fine to move to incubator.
iirc there are some small improvements to incubator that could be made to accommodate current uses of beta.wv, but (unlike in the case of WS) they are minor & not reasons to hold off on moving to incubator. Agreed w Jay that redirects should be made to work (to whatever target).

" Once the (inexisting subdomain's) Wikiversity content is located in Incubator and properly stored (= using the prefixes), then redirecting of subdomains with inexisting wikis to the relevant prefixed root page on Incubator is not a problem at all (simple patch after content import to one server file SPQRobin and I created and everything works as it should).
As I wrote in previous email, the unstructured environment on BWV is the reason why it is not working now.
Kind regards

Hello Jay,
thanks for bringing this up.
The problem you mention is exactly one of the technical reasons speaking in favour of moving the Beta Wikiversity to the Incubator, because there is no comfortable and effective way how to set it up for Beta WV the way it works for other projects which are on Incubator, because there is no strict, structured and predictable environment on Beta WV which would allow creating of such redirections.
Kind regards
Danny B.
