Hi,
At the langcom meeting in Berlin today Satdeep and Miloš brought up the topic of adding support for translating into the Bodo language.
It's easy to do technically, but I want to use this as an opportunity to make sure that we have the autonym written correctly.
- The current language database file
https://github.com/wikimedia/jquery.uls/blob/master/data/langdb.yaml#L78 in the UniversalLanguageSelector extension lists it as "बड़ो".
- The English Wikipedia article
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodo_language says "बर'". Note the apostrophe in the end. I remember reading somewhere (probably the InScript standards files) that apostrophe in a part of the orthography of some languages of India, so it sounds possible.
- The main page of the Bodo Incubator
https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wp/brx/%E0%A4%97%E0%A4%BE%E0%A4%B9%E0%A4%BE%E0%A4%87_%E0%A4%AC%E0%A4%BF%E0%A4%B2%E0%A4%BE%E0%A4%AF also has "बर'", as does the article about the language https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wp/brx/%E0%A4%AC%E0%A4%B0%27_%E0%A4%B0%E0%A4%BE%E0%A4%B5 .
- To confuse things completely, Ethnologue
https://www.ethnologue.com/language/brx says "बोडो". (It also gives the main English name of the language as "Bodo").
So what is correct?
