Doteli is up. Satdeep, I suppose you want to write something about it?
(I can't find if we've written about it here already.)

Dear Board members,
On behalf of the fellow Language committee members, I am sending the
following request to you:
During more than a decade of its existence, Language committee's main task
was to block creation of the projects. Having in mind that goal and the
fact that the capacities of the Wikimedia movement at that time were not
linguistically strong, the main rule related to the decision-making process
inside of the Language committee was consensus.
Language policy is different today than it was at the time of creation. We
have established a common sense practice based on the situation then. As a
result, we ask the Board to reconsider the rule of consensus inside of the
Language committee and allow it to make decisions by majority,
supermajority or other methods defined by the committee itself.
Milos
Dear members of the Language Committee,
As you know, the Wikimedia Foundation staff, a designated strategy team and
a Community Process Steering Committee have designed a process to gather
input from all voices in the Wikimedia movement to define the strategic
direction of our movement over the next 15 years. The process until
Wikimania is divided into three discussion cycles, and cycle 1 will run
from 10 March to 10 April.
I am currently reaching out to all organized groups (e.g. affiliates,
committees) and encourage them to participate. As LangCom is one of these
organized groups, I would like to ask you to participate in these
conversations, too!
There are different options for your group to participate: You can discuss
in person, onwiki or on other online platforms, as well as virtually via
telephone or video conferences. We have created a toolkit that will support
you with designing and hosting these conversations.
We are asking for at least one person from each organized group to
volunteer to be the Discussion Coordinator. This person will receive and
invitation to a Discussion Coordinator training and is responsible for:
* Inviting people to the discussion
* Hosting the discussion
* Summarizing the discussion
Please use the following links:

This is the time many of us have been waiting for for years. I would love
to see each and every one of you make your voice heard and take the chance
to shape the future of our movement together. I am very much looking
forward to making this happen with all of you! Stay tuned for updates on
the process that we will publish next week, and please reach out to me with
any question you might have in the meantime.
Sincerely,
Nicole
PS - Note that all summaries submitted by 20 March will be used in the
strategy track during WMCON in Berlin 28 March - 2 April. If your group
meets after WMCON but by 10 April, your summary will still be synthesized
before Cycle 2 begins (late April).
PPS - I have joined the team as Track Lead on 1 March, which is made
possible through an agreement between Wikimedia Deutschland and the
Wikimedia Foundation. In the sense of a strategic partnership, our two
organizations have agreed that I will invest most of my time until the end
of the year towards this new role.

Track A: Organized Groups
Wikiversity has been proved to attract lunatics and Beta Wikiversity
has it's shiny role there. So, I think they proved not to be able to
take care about nurturing the new projects (unlike Wikisource); at
least not without the Incubator admins.
In other words, I would go with closure. What do you think?
Hello Dear Longcom Members,
I am Admin on Beta Wikiversity. Here is some my observations
1. If you type hi.wikinews.org it redirect on incubator. wikimedia.org/Wn/hi
2. If you type hi.wikisource.org it redirect on hindi wikisource main page
3. But when you type hi.Wikiversity. org it shows you error msg that this
Wikiversity not started till now. You can go beta Wikiversity for your
contribution.
Here is big problem. Because we made content. But content only
used by me and my friends. If hi.Wikiversity.org redirect on beta
Wikiversity main page then it is ok. Otherwise closure of Wikiversity is
option. Thank you langcom
We need a text about the (Eastern) Punjabi language, culture and
Wikimedia projects to send to wikimedia-l, as well as for Wikimedia
blog -- to welcome pa.ws. Satdeep, this is your area :)

Hey LangCom,
As I guess many of you will have seen, we (and the FDC) have a general call
for input on the Wikimedia Foundation's annual plan for 2017/18.[0] This
plan sets out what we programmes and activities we plan to do in the year
from 1 July 2017 onwards.
I'd like to take to opportunity to highlight to you the plans we have in
the Editing department.[1] I'd really appreciate you sharing the expertise
you have, and any suggestions, concerns, or comments you might have.
Thanks!
James F.

I was planning to write this mail some time in the future, but since now
two users requested to become a member, I'm doing it now:
When discussing about membership requests, there might sometimes be reasons
for a non-public discussion.
Maybe we could reactive the old non-public langcom-l for that purpose?
