Hi,
I received a few requests to check the status of Western Balochi incubator
(bgn).
The code bgn is legit, the translation of most-used messages is complete,
and the activity in the incubator is reasonable. A lot of pages are
written; many are just one or two lines long, but I don't think that I mind.
Do we want to verify that it's the right language?

A question for the respected language code experts in the audience.
Apparently, the Simple English Wikipedia uses "en" as its language code in
the HTML lang attribute, etc.
I never noticed it until recently, when it started causing various bugs
with the ContentTranslation extension of which I am a developer. I somehow
assumed that it uses something like "en-simple" without ever checking it,
and that assumption was wrong - it's just "en".
I believe that the code should be different from what is used by the
English Wikipedia, like it is with other wikis in language variants, such
as be-tarask.
Do you have any suggestions about what code should it be?
en-simple?
en-x-simple?
Something else?
Should I register anything new with any standards organization? (If I
recall correctly, this was done for be-tarask?)
Can I reuse any existing code that would be appropriate?
Is it a bad idea in general and it should be just "en"?

I want to bring to the attention of the Langcom that there is an update on
the application for a neapolitan wikisource

which is pending evaluation since 2011.
The updated status of the neapolitan wikisource project is as follows:
- More than 3000 proofread pages
- Three or more contributors during the last 9 months
- Two or more contributors working intensively during more than 1 year
- Localisation complete

- Biggest language in mul.wikisource by number of proofread pages and
growing
- Iso code and long-term running wikipedia
We need the project to be activated:
- We'll provide better tools within our own language domain
- We'll provide better access to our native speakers and literates
- It is a minority language and time passes while the speaking population
gets older (and the contributors too)
- We'll provide easy access to the humanity to the public domain in our
language. This is now simply getting diluted into mul.wikisource,
it.wikisource or en.wikisource, just as our books and songs are diluted and
lost into the libraries of all over the world. We believe that a dedicated
project is the best solution in order to support a language that cannot be
fully deployed as a project by means of perpetual incubation into another
project , specially when the other projects have no explicit scope or
interest for neapolitan language (just as all the wikisources were opened
in 2006)

Hallo,
Surprisingly, this just happened today: The be-x-old.wikipedia.org domain
was renamed to be-tarask.wikipedia.org domain.
Be it known that renaming the domains of Wikimedia sites is not impossible
any more!
There are some fallout bugs, but nothing disastrous, and everything should
stabilize by the end of the week.
I hope to see the rest of the domains with the non-standard (or
not-so-standard) codes to go away in the coming months - als -> gsw,
zh-min-nan -> nan, and so on.
no -> nb might be a bit controversial with the community, but I do hope
that it will be renamed as well.
