Hi education friends!
Wiki Education, the organization that runs the education program in the US
and Canada, has been running a regular Speaker Series. This Zoom-based
webinar offers the opportunity for a series of panelists to share their
insights on a topic related to Wikimedia projects.
I'm particularly excited as the forthcoming edition features four of our
wonderful EduWiki-medians!
-Bukola James, EduWiki Nigeria
-Luisina Ferrante, Wikimedia Argentina
-Alexander Hilsenbeck Filho, Wiki Movimento Brasil
-Nebojša Ratković, Wikimedia Serbia
The session will be on Tuesday, May 14, at 17:00 UTC (see in your time zone
here: https://zonestamp.toolforge.org/1715706000)
To attend, you must pre-register: https://wikiedu.org/speaker-series/

Dear all,
At the recent EduWiki conference in Serbia I presented a research piece on
the power of information literacy (and how our wiki programmes support it)
from the perspective of Wikimedia UK. I thought to share the resource here,
perhaps it will be a useful tool in your advocacy for the impact of our
education work, as a narrative to present the value of wiki workshop, or
serve as inspiration to do a similar project.
I'm also hosting a webinar next week if you'd like to hear me talk through
the report on *Wednesday 14th June 12pm UTC *

Booklet:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wikimedia_and_Democracy_-_Wikimedia…
(short version

)
As a summary of the work, *Our main inquiry was to understand how improving
information literacy skills contributes to Wikimedia UK’s vision of a more
tolerant, informed and democratic society. Does our work increase
participants’ information literacy, and does this in turn lead to a more
engaged civil society? We reviewed the current understanding and frameworks
in the intersection of literacies, civic engagement and democratic
participation, to see how information literacy has been found to support
civic engagement. We then explored how Wikimedia UK’s work contributes to
civic disposition skills.*
Hope this sounds interesting to you all!

Wikimedia & Education enthusiasts,
The Wikipedia & Education User Group is seeking a new host for the EduWiki
Conference in light of the recent withdrawal of Wikimedia Rwanda as host
(see below). Given the timing considerations, we've decided we will push
off the conference until early 2025. But we'd like to start planning now!
If your affiliate is interested in serving as host for the conference, we
are currently accepting bids for the conference location. To express your
interest, please fill out this form by April 1:
https://forms.gle/yXCKkMfwBgd1UKxK6
Ensuring we can secure visas for our diverse community is of top priority
for us as conference organizers. So please make sure you've investigated
the visa situation in your country, especially for those coming from
Sub-Saharan Africa, South and Southeast Asia, and South and Latin America.
Please also ensure your group has the capacity to host an international
conference of 100-125 people in (ideally) February/March/April 2025. Since
the last two conferences have been hosted by our wonderful friends at the
Basque Wikimedians and Wikimedia Serbia, we'll give preference to bids
coming from outside of Europe, so we can move the location around.
Again, to express your interest in hosting, please fill out this form by
end of day on April 1, 2024:

The Wikimedia & Education community has been engaging in a broader research
project to create a future engagement structure that better meets the needs

Free phone ringtones offer a wide array of options for users to express their personality and creativity. This article will provide tips and tricks for finding the best free phone ringtones and customizing them to suit individual preferences.
Understanding the Importance of Ringtones
Personalization and Expression
Phone ringtones are not just alerts for incoming calls; they are a reflection of one's personality and style. Whether it's a catchy tune, a soothing melody, or a quirky sound effect, the right ringtone can speak volumes about the user.
Reflecting Personality

I would like to inform you that only until the end of March 2024 I will be
an employee of Wikimedia Poland in the position of Open Education Manager.
I made a difficult decision about this change, and since the international
part of wiki education was and is always very important to me, I would like
to let you know now and say a preliminary goodbye :)
Previously, I had already been a Wikipedia volunteer for several years (my
account was created in 2015), so that the following years, which I also
spent as a staff member of the Polish chapter, gave me an incredible
opportunity to have a broad view of the issues, difficulties, joys and
challenges of our community. I believe that the projects and solutions I
invented and developed in cooperation with wonderful people will continue.
A huge thank you to all of you - who supported me with a conversation, a
joke, a virtual and live meetings, brainstormings and challenges that gave
me energy and satisfaction. I wish you perseverance and joy in what you do.
I want to continue to stay with you as a volunteer, let's stay in touch - I
hope it will not be only virtual contact.
