I hope this email finds you well. Last month, we introduced you to our
new EduWiki
community support strategy
<https://diff.wikimedia.org/2021/10/05/promoting-more-inclusive-and-equitabl…>.
As a part of our new strategy, we are here with the first “EduWiki Live
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Education/EduWiki_Live>” event, scheduled
for 30th November at 15:00 UTC. EduWiki Live is a virtual event that aims
to serve as a bridge between the EduWiki community and the Education
sector. This will help the community to engage in deep dives into
interesting topics about global education from a Wikimedia movement
perspective.
This month, the Education Team is hosting the first EduWiki Live on the
theme of *Wikidata and Curriculum Digitization*. We are aiming to highlight
the work that has been done in this area and how you can be a part of it.
For this event, we will be joined by guest speakers Ivan Savov, a
researcher working in the field of curriculum digitization and data models,
along with Ernest Gavor and Andrews Lartey representing the Ghana Society
for Education Technology (GSET).
Here is the brief agenda for the event:
- A general update and news on things happening in the EduWiki
community. An overview of the potential impact of aligning curriculum data
on Wikidata, and where we are now with the Wikidata for Education
<https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Wikidata_for_Education> project
by Nichole Saad.
- Take a deep dive into the data models for curriculum standards
<https://learningequality.org/r/digitizing-curriculum> with Ivan Savov:
learn about the use cases for digital curriculum standards, the work done
so far, and how this could be useful for the Wikimedia movement.
- Meet our implementing partners from Ghana, learn what we want to
accomplish with the Wikidata for Education project, and why it is important
in the Ghanian context.
Open Q&A
You can watch the event live on Facebook and Youtube. For you to be able to
ask questions in your native language we encourage you to use the comment
option on Facebook, as it supports automatic translation, If you are
interested in helping translate questions and answers in the comments

for learning, sharing of projects, tools, or ideas with the education
community from the region.
Regional education meetings are planned by the Community Specialists in
collaboration with Wikimedia Education Team. This is an opportunity to
strengthen the EduWiki network, explore collaboration opportunities, and
identify common practices or challenges that are faced by our community
members in different regions of the world. For this month, we are excited
to meet with the communities based in the ESEAP Region
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Education/About/Office_Hours/Regional_Meeti…>

17:00 GMT+10 Australian Eastern Standard Time), with the theme: Wikimedia
Education work pre-pandemic, during the pandemic, and what are the plans

Dear EduWiki Community,
Did you know that Meta wiki is turning 20 years old this month? And it’s
getting the best birthday present ever--the “This Month in Education
Newsletter <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Education/News>!”
The Movement Communications team recently completed research
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Movement_communications_insights/Report>
to better understand movement communication needs. One thing we learned is
that people often have trouble finding the information they need and feel
overloaded with options
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Movement_communications_insights/Report/Bro…>.
After consulting the EWOC volunteers, the EduWiki Affiliates network, and
other key newsletter contributors, the Education Team has decided to
support moving the newsletter from Outreach to Meta. This migration will
help bring about better visibility and participation with the wider
Wikimedia community and beyond. A place where contributors can be better
seen, engaged and supported – and in more languages than before.
Given that we want our community to be an open space for all people who are
interested in Wikimedia & Education, moving the newsletter from Outreach to
Meta is one way to improve inclusiveness and accessibility.
If you are subscribed to the newsletter, nothing will change for you, you
will still get it delivered to your talk page. We will still share the
newsletter each month in the mailing list, and we will also begin sharing
newsletter highlights on Diff.
You can read the next edition of “This Month in Education” on Meta on
November 19th, Meta Wiki’s 20th birthday!
We hope you will continue to contribute and read this publication that
highlights the amazing work our EduWiki community is doing around the world!
Warm regards,
Nichole

Dearest
I am a certified Wikipedia in African Libraries cohort 2. Presently I am the Librarian at College of Nursing and Midwifery, Katsina State , Northern Nigeria. As part of my initiative for the promotion reading in School of nursing , I formed Library Club from among the Students. The aim is that they will become change agent by sensitizing other students on importance of patronizing the Library etc.
I will like to collaborate with Wikimedia education to do more and expand to other school and Institutions within our community.
Thank you.
