Hi all,
I will have an office hour regarding the development of the Motivational
and educational video to introduce Wikimedia
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IEG/Motivational_and_educational_vid…>
project. I would appreciate your comments and questions about:
* The outline of the subjects that will be included in the videos
* Good practices for onboarding newcomers that may be leveraged in the
video series
* What to name the video series when it is released to the general public
* Translation of the public communications related to the videos, and
translation of the script
* Anything else related to the series
Please participate in a Doodle poll to help with scheduling the office
hour: http://doodle.com/poll/eu4m62ccdq4senuv
I also welcome questions and comments on the project talk page
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants_talk:IEG/Motivational_and_educationa…>
.
Thank you!

Hello everyone!
There's already been a lot of inspiring reactions to the the Year of
Science, so I'm delighted to say that the Wiki Education Foundation (Wiki
Ed) is officially launching our Year of Science work in the USA and Canada
today.
There's a blog post pointing to the work we're doing:
https://wikiedu.org/blog/2016/01/19/wikipedia-year-of-science/
There's our Year of Science page for academics and their institutions,
describing what we're doing and how to contact us:
http://wikiedu.org/yearofscience/
And finally, we're handing over the reigns to the Wikipedia Year of Science
Portal to community members, so they can share ideas, news and events
related to the WP:YOS (that's a shortcut! or):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Year_of_Science
We'd love to see what chapters and projects can do with this theme, so
please spread the word freely! We're also hoping people will use
#yearofscience or #YoS when they do.
We're looking forward to seeing what we can all do together.

Dear all,
Submission deadline for Wikimania 2016 has been postponed!
I've just heard back from the organizing team (in my capacity as the GLAM
Liaison).
I can confirm that the submission deadline will be postponed, but they are
still unclear till when.
We are going to have at least an extra week (till Jan15th), but I've
strongly recommended reinstating the original deadline of Jan 31st. They
are to have a meeting this week and decide on the final date.
When they do, the wiki page will be changed as well.
I'll notify you as soon as I hear back from them.
Cheers,
Shani.
